  1. The lyrics for this song kill me. Jeff can do better than "Maybe the sun will shine today", maybe x, maybe y, blah blah.
  2. Nice, if I don't get About Today at the show I go to then heads will roll.
  3. I aboslutely love Boxer, but I'm still secretly wishing there was an Available/Murder Me Rachael/Abel/Mr. November type song where Matt just loses it.
  4. I actually read the review the other day from somewhere else not realizing it was your blog I think someone linked to it on The National forum, but I don't really remember. Anywho, great interview/review
  5. Why aren't the Black Keys opening for them?
  6. That's strange, people usually rave about their live show, and at least the one I saw last fall was excellent.
  7. I have used my powers of deduction and come to the conclusion that this thread is no longer about Massachusetts.
  8. Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe via Pitchfork Check this out, it's amazing as expected I really cannot wait for their new album. In 2005 my favorite two albums were Black Sheep Boy and Alligator. Judging from this and the other songs I've heard in live form and the awesome-ness that is Boxer, we could be headed for another 1-2 finish.
  9. I just want to re-emphasize how amazing this album is I was initially a tad let down the first listen or so, but damn I love it every inch as much as Alligator. The National on MTV, from the Human Giant marathon thingy. Def worth checking out.
  10. you got yr cherry bomb is fantastic. some of the songs get kind of same-y though.
  11. Pretty fun song. I was expecting something embarrassingly bad, but he seems to have recaptured that Pumpkins sound.
  12. Chadbourne representin' (although i am quite happy to be leaving for off campus)
  13. Raise our heavenly glasses to the heavens! Squalor Victoria! Squalor Victoria!
  14. Grew up in Uxbridge, which is in central mass right between Worcester and Providence. Now I go to school and live in Amherst for most of the year, but I am in Boston frequently to see girlfriend and friends. So yeah, pretty much all over MA.
  15. Damn you! Beat me to it. I guess AP English wasn't one of the classes that got tookin'.
  16. but it's m4a, so it's pretty equivalent to 192kbps mp3. chances are your ears won't know the diff.
  17. As proved by the complete failure of the Itunes model, sure how can we blame them for sitting on their asses? I can understand they want to protect their product, but there's many better ways to combat it than basically extorting people. Food for thought via Tiny Mix Tapes: "eMarketer is reporting that the music industry
  18. Dude, not all of the reviews were written by the same person, Pfork doesn't do the CMG thing and do a collective rating or anything. qft. Umm...
  19. Like the kid said, of course the RIAA is targeting college kids, they won't fight back. It's pretty much bullshit, an archaic company can't learn to adapt and change with the times so they sick their big lawyers on the defenseless. Great business strategy!
  20. Ok time to play some devil's advocate... To be fair, he said soft rock followed by guitar solos (and damn that is some guitar solo). Just because their tastes don't exactly align with yours doesn't mean they have lost their credibility. Source Tags and Echoes are still pretty great discs. No, Knife - Silent Shout was. And as harsh as people want to think that review was, it wasn't all bad and I don't think there was any axe-grinding. Pitchfork bashing is too easy and gets tired pretty quickly so I'll try to think of some constructive things to say: I agree that while Nels and Gle
