  1. Peggy: You never say "Thank you." Don: That's what the money's for!
  2. I know a lot of people on this board don't have much respect for Tyler, but I have seen Aerosmith recently - I put a link to my review of the show in our After The Show forum - and those old guys can still bring it. Nothing farcical that night. Guns 'N Roses, on the other hand...
  3. Damn, I would love to go to one of these sometime...hint hint. Are they "invitation only?"
  4. But will he be banging the focus group doctor character?
  5. I loved the scene with the psychiatrist. She was ready to call Betty on her shit, then decided the best tack was to coax her into being a patient under the guise of "getting updates about Sally." Betty may get help whether she wants it or not!
  6. I was planning to play Waiting for Columbus this weekend for the first time in a while...weird. http://www.spinner.com/2010/08/13/richie-hayward-little-feat-dead/?icid=main|netscape|dl2|link4|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.spinner.com%2F2010%2F08%2F13%2Frichie-hayward-little-feat-dead%2F
  7. Also, the first two songs from Warren's self-titled album: Frank & Jesse James and Mama Couldn't Be Persuaded.
  8. Up For Grabs - The Style Council Keys - Golden Smog Bells & Roses - Rosanne Cash Indian Sunset - Elton John Walk Away - James Gang American Tune - Simon & Garfunkel Saturday In The Park - Chicago Tastebud - Grateful Dead Shepherds - Bruce Cockburn Julia Dream - Pink Floyd
  9. Indeed. I had a similar experience: listening to Runnin' With The Devil and the VH cover of You Really Got Me on the FM radio station, also with headphones, after "lights out." That was a great era to grow up when it came to radio. I feel sorry for the kids today growing up on such shitty pop music.
  10. Thanks for these updates, A-man. I just realized it's been fifteen years since Jerry passed: 8/9/95. What a long strange trip indeed.
  11. LOL Well, you're right, I knew of the name change, but not until I went. I had plumb forgotten...then again, I'd only been there once before. Seems like that place has only been there a couple years, and already they have changed the name to something really cheesy. Then again, I remember it wasn't all that long ago that the St. Pete Times Forum was called The Ice Palace or something...
  12. I posted a review on my blog just for fun.
  13. Speaking of people named Buddy: if you put together 10 Claptons and 5 Stevie Ray Vaughans, they still wouldn't be worth one Buddy Guy.
  14. Then I Close My Eyes - David Gilmour Without You - The Doobie Brothers I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl - Nina Simone It's Written In The Stars - Paul Weller Double Groove [unfinished Outtake] - Talking Heads Cry Baby [Rehearsal] - Janis Joplin Dry Land - Colin Linden Bummer In The Summer - Love Good Morning Little School Girl - Muddy Waters Sweet Pea - Miles Davis
  15. I enjoyed it a lot more than Inception.
  16. Here's sort of a famous Dead show: Grateful Dead Live at Grand Prix Racecourse on 1973-07-88 a.k.a "Watkins Glen"
  17. I watched Eraserhead yesterday for the second time; the first time was in 1983 or so. What a strange, twisted piece of work...interesting how you find echoes of it in his later films. I had no idea Lynch was so heavily into transcendental meditation. This video on youtube is interesting if you have about an hour and a half to kill! "David Lynch: Consciousness, Creativity & The Brain" - www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8TFcLgu5Ow
  18. I basically agree with this, although "The Gift" might actually get my vote for worst thing they ever recorded.
  19. That was a shocker, though I realized I shouldn't have been surprised. Great show, and I'm really glad it's back.
  20. There is something to be said for the remasters of CDs that were originally released in the 80s in particular. I remember when CD technology was new, and I was NOT impressed. Sure, they were portable (and of course, we were all told "They'll last forever" lol), but so many of them had that thin, tinny sound that made us appreciate vinyl much more. I recall, in particular, the shitty CD of Dire Straits' Making Movies. God, that was a piece of crap. I never made it through the whole thing, and just went back to listening to the record.
  21. I got turned onto the tape of this show around 1983 by a Deadhead from Jersey. I don't remember whether he told me the place was a dump, but he sure had some good tapes of shows from that area! Enjoy.
  22. Well, it's that time of year again...time to celebrate one of my favorite Dead concerts, 7/18/72. Grateful Dead Live at Roosevelt Stadium on 1972-07-18 Great versions of Me & My Uncle, Bird Song, Black-Throated Wind, Sugaree, Loser, Stella Blue... Love Jerry's guitar work throughout this show. Check it out!
  23. Tampa is a nice warm place to do it!
  24. Here's a stream of a show with a pretty nice Crazy Fingers on it, and also one of those classic 1976 St. Stephen > Not Fade Away > St. Stephen combos. Not too shabby! Grateful Dead Live at Orpheum Theatre on 1976-07-13
