I live in Tampa and am driving to Tallahassee and St. Augustine shows to see Wilco. Each of those trips is about 3 to 4 hours, one way. Soooo, not really feeling the sympathy for folks who can still pick a Cincy, Louisville or St. Louis show instead of Indy. First world problems indeed. Not that people don't have a right to complain. Complain day and night if you want, but coming to the Wilco fan board to do it is probably not the wisest move (as Doug C so eloquently pointed out), and is likely to draw a certain amount of push back, if not outright ridicule.

Here's another interesting article about the law...from the perspective of an Indianapolis Christian minister: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rick-lowery-phd/why-i-think-my-church-is-upset-about-indianas-rfra_b_6982544.html

Great comments section in that one, too.

Glad this conversation is staying civil. These issues are touchy, and discussions of them even in polite society often devolve into angry arguments. I agree with the standpoint that business owners should be required to treat people fairly under the law. There is a huge difference between me, a private individual who is NOT in business as a photographer, declining to photograph a gay wedding, and Joe Schmoe, Wedding Photographer, taking the same stance. By the way, it's pretty hard to prove these kinds of discrimination cases, unless the discriminator blatantly tells the people that that is

You got it! I'll be looking for the dude who is writing down the setlist like I usually do, right?

Indeed. Many Wilco shows, but none at festivals...and none with special guests or other cool artists I want to see. Oh, and never gotten a Jeff solo show...almost as psyched for that as I am for the rest of the weekend!

Thanks, bböp! I knew I would get some real expertise here on VC. Had no idea of the size of Joe's field. I don't have to be in the front row (I am in the 3rd row for one of the Florida shows, and taking my chance with general admission for the others), but I do like to be fairly close. I'm only about 5'7"-5'8" myself, so it's easy to block my view. And I'm always more than willing to let even shorter folks stand in front of me. At SS, I am guessing it will be my wife! Would like to meet some of you Wilco fanatics there as well. I suppose I have gotten pretty spoiled by my previous Wilco ex

The Stones, too. They are playing there this summer, and they don't give a shit about American politics.

I can't help but agree with this. If I lived in IN, I would be horribly disappointed that the show was being canceled, especially if I'd already bought tickets, but "full refund" does mean I could still get tickets to a show only two hours away, as others have stated. I was somewhat mystified to see a comment on the Facebook page which read, "Music is music. Keep politics out of it." Normally, I don't respond to such posts if I don't actually know the person, but I couldn't help but post, "Ever heard of Woody Guthrie? Pete Seeger? Phil Ochs? Might want to check 'em out." The idea that Wilco

As another SS neophyte, my questions are more about the seating/lack thereof for the Wilco & Tweedy shows: I know it's a festival, and doesn't have any sort of VIP section, but what sort of arrangements do people make for ensuring they get a decent spot fairly close to the front? My wife is only 5'3" and will be fairly miserable, I think, if we are not quite close. Just to clarify: I have never been farther back than the 15th row for a Wilco show, and even that seemed like miles. I'm usually in the first 5 or 6 rows, or on the rail for GA. Not exactly a giant myself, as many of you know.

I believe their official name is the Democratic Party, not the Democrat Party. Could you clarify the statement "racism is a part of," the party... meaning, in a current context?

Right. And then... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy Shake and stir for the next 45 years and you can see the results.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2015/03/29/centennials-music-holiday-sinatra/70422114/ I had no idea that Billie Holiday, Sinatra, Muddy Waters, Les Paul and Willie Dixon were all born in 1915. Pretty cool.

All over that. Saw it on the Facebook feed but thanks for posting here. Hope folks don't miss it.

Wow, very nice. Happy (belated) birthday!

It is a very common camping phrase...which is why it's become such a fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on your POV) bit of comic slang. I did not read the email, since my plans are all made, and don't include camping...so I missed the Plath reference. I guess Sylvia would not have been amused by me saying that I'm planning to pitch a tent at the motel.

Did I really just receive an email from the Solid Sound folks with the subject line, "Pitch a tent at Solid Sound"? Maybe they should have had Spencer or some other young person proof that first? Or check urbandictionary.com to see if it means something else?

Not my favorite band by any means, but they had talent, and 59 sounds pretty young to me as I begin my 50s. Dang. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/toto-bassist-mike-porcaro-dead-at-59-20150315

You can get a decent amount of $ for some of them on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l2632.R2.TR3.TRC1.A0.H0.XNo+Depresion.TRS0&_nkw=no+depression+magazine&ghostText=&_sacat=280

Of Three Dog Night. Famously (infamously?) name checked on Zappa's Live at the Fillmore East. http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Three-Dog-Night-keyboardist-Jimmy-Greenspoon-dies-6131131.php

That Fillmore West '69 comp is excellent. My favorite Mountains of the Moon, though I guess most of them were pretty darn stellar...

I saw this earlier on Steve Hillage's Facebook page. Very sad. I guess the only "good" thing, if there is good to be found here, is that he did not suffer for that additional six months. RIP, pothead pixie.

Ha! I had not seen that before. Interesting, seeing their take on different gigs. I seriously hope these Florida venues sell a lot more tickets. The Tallahassee show is in a new amphitheater, and the pit area is apparently not being used. So there will be a yawning gap between the band and the audience, which is weird, then the seated area, then general admission lawn seating in the back. Hard Rock Orlando should be kind of cool just by virtue of the fact that it's indoors (and therefore won't be sweltering) and has general admission on the floor...it will probably harken back to their clu
