I don't claim to know what was in this guy's head or heart, but here is a little history of calls he made to the police over a period of less than a year. I don't think it's a stretch to call this a "pattern." April 22, 2011 – 7:09 p.m. Type: TEL Subject: Suspicious activity Report: Juvenile black male “apprx 7–9” years old, four feet tall “skinny build short blk hair” last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and blue shorts Aug. 3, 2011 – 6:45 p.m. Type: TEL Subject: Suspicious activity Report: Black male last seen wearing a white tank top and black shorts … Zimmerman “believes subject is involve

I really question the "walking back to the vehicle" portion of the account. He is armed; he followed the victim in his truck; he got out of the vehicle and was also told, "We don't need you to do that." And he also said, "Fucking punks always get away with it." Did he not follow on foot at some point? How does anyone know he went back toward the vehicle?
-
By the way, not to beat a dead horse, but has it been established that 1) Zimmerman was in fact walking back to his vehicle, or 2) He was attacked by T.M.? I understand that is his version, but did forensics prove it accurate in some way? Obviously, I have not been following the story that closely, just the political fallout.

Hixter, your neighborhood sounds much better than that of George Zimmerman. I am guessing you don't have many armed wanna-be cops out patrolling the streets, phoning the police every time they see someone "suspicious."

You are probably right. Just glad to see headlines noting that this thing is far from over. It was so galling to see Mr. Flat Affect with a big cheesy grin after being found "not guilty." If the pressure on him continues, he may just gain another 400 lbs. and explode like the girl in Willie Wonka.

Fortunately, it looks like the DOJ is stepping in. Hope that ends up with him doing some time.

There is already some talk on the tube about Zimmy possibly being charged with a federal hate crime or crimes. I would think wrongful death lawsuit would be the way to go rather than have the DOJ involved, but what the feck do I know? By the way, I live in Florida, and I am thinking of starting a campaign to arm all African-Americans. That would at least give them a fighting chance. Whaddya think?

I'm impressed too! Damn, I thought I was hardcore for trekking 9 hours to Atlanta, but that is quite a run. You will have a great time at these shows, I'm sure. The one thing that is a bit hard to get used to is the "festival" atmosphere, meaning not everyone will be attentive during any given act, so there is a lot of chatter. Once I was able to ignore that, I had a blast.

Aw, bbop, were you there? Would love to read your review, if you were. I just started this thread in my impatience.... -
Didn't bother me, I have been just as critical of Dylan as anyone else. Message boards are a pretty harmless and relatively anonymous way for all of us to vent/celebrate/critique/cheerlead/argue, etc., etc.

FWIW, the dead.net site is reporting that there are less than 1,000 copies of Dave's Picks Vol. 7 left before it sells out. For all you non-subscribers who are on the fence.

Like most truly great artists, Dylan always had an incredibly strong ego. There's a story about how he even put off some of his buddies in the early days in the folk scene in NYC...sitting around with Dave van Ronk and all those guys, and just looking at them all and saying, "Nobody's gonna do what I'm gonna do," or something like that. And he was right. He changed the face of music forever. Before Dylan, the Beatles were singing "She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah." It's pretty safe to say that the great run from Rubber Soul through Abbey Road would never have happened if not for Dylan's influ

A guy on Wilco's Facebook page posted, "My wife said Dylan sounded like The Cookie Monster wearing pajamas doing rap songs."

I agree with you guys on this (damn, I am agreeing with everything on here lately, lol), and fortunately, I don't think they will be too exhausted when the tour is over. Sure, it's a long day, but their sets are only 75 minutes, so by Wilco standards, they're barely warmed up and it's time for Dylan! That bodes well for a new record: well-oiled machine, but not road weary. -
I actually read some stuff about them, including an interview, and listened to a tiny bit of their music before seeing them live, so I wasn't totally unfamiliar with him or the band. I remember him indicating that he had gone way, way out there on psychedelics, so I related to that. The band's studio tracks didn't grab me, so I didn't force feed myself. I figured it would be better to see them live. Very tight band, and although the lyrics didn't do much for me, the music was played well...though a bit too loudly for my tinnitus to handle. Ear plugs are a must for anyone seeing these guys, eve

I had no familiarity with MMJ before seeing them from the front row/rail, and my reaction alternated between somewhat skeptical and "I kinda like this big ol' hippie-looking Grizzly-Adams-beard dude." But then, I have always gotten along with guys like that. Probably because I was such a stoner in school.
-
Probably more afraid of Jim James giving him a big sweaty bearded hug.

I don't really blame Dylan for this bizarre, Howard Hughes-like behavior. It must have been a heavy trip living in upstate New York in the 60s, having some fuckstick knock on your door every other day wanting to know the meaning of life and whatnot. And he was all of, what, 26 or 27? Eventually you go from being willing to stand around and rap to wanting to break out the shotgun and yell, "Get the hell off my property!" when you see another one coming. Kind of inevitable, really.

By the way, twosheds: best screen name ever. Damn, I love Monty Python.

Interesting thoughts there, choo-choo-charlie. That would be cool. Heck, I'd be happy if the effect were just one of getting the set lists shaken up on a regular basis. Of course, any crowd will be hopping up and down at the end of a show for Monday, Outtasite or I Got You, but wouldn't they go just as nuts for We've Been Had, Dreamer In My Dreams, or ELT? And Give Back the Key to My Heart is just as strong an opener as anything else they've done, for my money. I am just really, really digging these lists. Wish I could have hit every show on the tour. -

I agree. I have to admit, my interest in these set lists borders on unhealthy. Hell, I'm nowhere near Peoria, but I started this thread just to make sure people knew where to post about it! And sure enough, another major league surprise. I don't think there's been a pedestrian set list on any given night.
