  1. Henry Miller was OTM's answer. Not sure about the book you're referring to though.
  2. That's a bit of hyperbole. There's some really good reporting still going on. NPR comes to mind.
  3. I only see the two. http://wilcoworld.net/loft/gigapan.php
  4. Long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
  5. Eric 'Stumpy' Peeps ... Mick Shrimpton Joe 'Mama' Besser Rick Shrimpton haha, that's all I got off my head, and I'm not even sure I have those names right.
  6. I didn't think Jeff's face could do that.
  7. Gray skies are gonna clear up, Put on a happy face; Brush off the clouds and cheer up, Put on a happy face. Take off the gloomy mask of tragedy, It's not your style; You'll look so good that you'll be glad Ya' decide to smile! Pick out a pleasant outlook, Stick out that noble chin; Wipe off that "full of doubt" look, Slap on a happy grin! And spread sunshine all over the place, Just put on a happy face! Put on a happy face Put on a happy face And if you're feeling cross and bitterish Don't sit and whine Think of banana split and licorice And you'll feel fine I knew a girl s
  8. ...except that little part about the pitcher in the batting order.
  9. If I believed this over-and-under thing, I'd put Carl Yastrzemski on my list.
  10. It was your finale. Check my sig. You gotta admit, that's some sigworthy stuff right there.
  11. I'm totally with you that the greatness of a player should not be argued using All-Star game selections.
  12. I thought it was funny. 'Is this a movie or a CD?'
  13. Speedy recovery vibes to Adam Yauch. Tour canceled, album release date pulled, Yauch is having surgery for cancer of the perotid gland.
  14. Nah I'm good with just yelling at you.
  15. Ha, I wish I caught that. McAdam is one of the few intellectuals (for lack of a better term) on that station, along with Holley and Mikey Adams. The rest are (mostly) lovable buffoons.
  16. I like what you did here, because I'm just as big a fan of 'Dark Neon' as an opener. Except I'd remove 'The Song' altogether, and not change the order of the rest of the album. The way I listen now, 'Dark Neon' (like you said above) paints the rest of the album in a light that 'The Song' didn't do at all. It's more cohesive, stronger, deeper. If I'd change anything else, I think it would be dropping 'Everlasting Everything', because it's IMO the most boring Wilco song ever. But, the album needs a closer.
  17. I agree - at some point early on, I realized that the movie was not going to add up to the sum of its parts. Too bad. [confession]I fast-forwarded through the last 1/2 half hour.[/confession]
  18. Hear, hear. That's a cocktail of depressing/infuriating.
  19. That says it. His contributions to NPR in his final years were a treat, too.
  20. Me too. This project is thrilling. I'm projecting here: Beck seems invigorated by the freedom of covering a whole album; the melodies and lyrics are decided, so it's a vehicle to just go nuts with the sound/feel. I'm excited for the eventual original material to follow.
