  1. This is a weird reply in every way. My saying I like a song because I like it is "unnecessary"? I'm not stirring the pot - you're smoking it.
  2. He's got Tony Dungy on his side. Five years from now, Vick will not be best known as a dogkiller.
  3. Because. There's your answer. Seriously.
  4. I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. It's so humid my brain is melting.
  5. I compiled the second-to-last songs on each Wilco album and decided that they comprise what should be their only album so far and it shouldn't even be out yet because it's only seven songs so after four or so more albums that shouldn't have been released we'll finally have the only Wilco album that should exist.
  6. Ahh - I was focusing on the "crazy" part of GON's post: I skipped past the "dumb" part. I thought you were implying that Palin might not be crazy. Which would be insane of you.
  7. I think you misunderstood Shakepeare's comment - it was in direct response to your comment that "we all love it" re: HMD. He was just noting that it's not one of the most loved Wilco songs among the band's fans.
  8. Slaughterhouse-Five is the only Vonnegut I've started and not finished. Not sure why. Funny that you mentioned Catch-22 when you were first looking for suggestions: I've lumped the two together in my mind as two not dissimilar books I'll probably never get around to finishing.
  9. I know you like to don the Devil's advocate cape, which is valid most of the time, but come on.
  10. For a long time I was sort of confused by the concept of the pensieve - I'd wondered: if certain memories are in the pensieve, then how does one even remember they're in there? Watching a bit of GOF over the weekend, it hit me - Dumbledore keeps the basics in his head, and goes to the pensieve for all the details. I realize this is probably common knowledge for you all, but it was cool to finally 'get' it, because I'd been thinking it was a loose thread of Rowling's.
  11. There's a clip on the soundtrack page on Amazon. Someone can probably figure it out from that.
  12. I wonder why you forget... It's Nuggets!
  13. Student Loan Stereo is rockin. Listen here: http://mymusicaladdictions.blogspot.com/2009/05/artist-to-love-wilco.html
  14. Matsuzaka is not happy in Boston. "If I'm forced to continue to train in this environment, I may no longer be able to pitch like I did in Japan," Matsuzaka is quoted as saying in a recently published article on the Japanese website Allatanys. "The only reason why I managed to win games during the first and second years [in the United States] was because I used the savings of the shoulder I built up in Japan. Since I came to the Major Leagues, I couldn't train in my own way, so now I've lost all those savings." Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell defended the team's approach, saying the adjus
  15. I always enjoy looking at Amalie Benjamin in that staff photo.
  16. Truth be told, I'm a little scared of actually getting more out of listening to The Beatles than I have been.
  17. When that video was new ('96?), it was fun to pretend the guy was saying "Oasis didn't break up. They're in the studio now, recording a new album."
  18. Oh wow just googled him - totally. I never knew that's who he is.
  19. Yeah, those are the ones I was thinking of - and when the Cambridge Looney Tunes closed up last month, it felt like the end of an era (I always liked that location more than the Boston one). Even the hip-hop record store that took over Second Coming's place is gone. I think it's a gourmet chocolate store now?
  20. Yes! Jazzin' For Blue Jean - I forgot about that.
