  1. Throat cancer, I thought? A few years back?
  2. Rain puts on a pretty good show. But guys, lose the whole "60s" concept. Flourishing every costume/era change with 'Nam, TV and hippie visuals (inc. the ubiquitous b/w footage of that long-haired blonde in dark pants and jacket twirling around like a fuckhead) only serves to unfairly equate the Beatles music with its contemporary timeframe, making it stale. Screw the 60s, the Beatles are bigger than that now.
  3. Four Horsemen is the only thing that keeps London Calling from perfection for me.
  4. That's good stuff (not the Basinger bits so much, but the tunes on there).
  5. XTC - Oranges & Lemons Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique I think that's about it. I have tiny issues with just about every other album I love.
  6. Funny - reminds me that when we were kids my brother and I used to sing the chorus to "All Those Years Ago" as "although she's a goat". Who'da thunk it - George may have approved.
  7. 1 - Sign 'O' the Times (this is the only real easy choice here) 2 - Dirty Mind (when you're listening to Dirty Mind, it's a safe bet no one's listening to anything nastier than you are) 3 - Parade (a bunch of small weird unshakable songs about love and maybe France and death) 4 - Purple Rain (1984 - when Prince and the world had sex) 5 - 1999 (what it lacks in flow it more than makes up for in song quality - when I happen to hear a particular tune from this, apart from the album, I'm always struck by how good it is) 6 - The Black Album (a friend and I played this album so much at a warehouse j
  8. I was wondering recently whatever became of that. Good to hear.
  9. Melody Cool, Graffiti Bridge, and maybe The Latest Fashion...what else? Everything else on there is totally worth its weight in funk.
  10. Going to see a Beatles tribute show tomorrow: Rain. Certainly looks stimulating. Winston Legthigh saw them and approved mildly. Anyone else?
  11. Flying through this. As addictive as a season of The Wire on DVD.
  12. Most of my experience with Jersey is limited to Bergen County. So I voted s'wonderful.
  13. Oldies radio ain't what it used to be, at least in Boston. Was a time in the late 80s/early 90s you could hear Chuck Berry on two major stations here. Now, those two stations, supposedly still in the same 'oldies' format, play nothing older than ABBA.
  14. That right there's gotta be like 17 minutes of stuff.
  15. Sorry Celtics, I jinxed this one at the start of the game by telling the baby in my wife's tummy that he/she would be born the same year as a Celtics championship.
  16. Manny Ramirez strikes out to end his first game back at Fenway since being traded. Sweet. And, the Red Sox are now one game out of first.
  17. Too late: Nava just won the Boston mayoral seat in a landslide, unseating mayor-for-life Menino in a special election.
  18. What is this, the Rank the Wilco albums thread?
