Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking (except for the song ... ha ha just kidding)

I enjoyed hearing him and his stories and insight will be missed. I do have to admit though, I always had to work against fantasizing hearing that succulent voice of his drop whatever it was saying and start listing off menu items - preferably comfort foods - like "roasted potatoes, Beef Stroganoff, macaroni and cheese, creamed haddock..."
-
I'm not hearing anything.

He was great in LA Confidential.

I like Grace, but if the remake turns down the effing bassline, I'm in. All I Want Is You, is perfect as is.
-
I made it related news. Thanks for the heads up

Based on your decision, I'm ready to dismiss the album, the band's previous records, and the idea of the Arcade Fire altogether.

Analogman did post the story already (not that any andrewdowdall spotting isn't welcome! )

Well said. Sorry your friend is gone. -
Post videos of the best OPENING acts that you've seen
Sir Stewart replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I went to see The Monkees in '67 and the opener was this hip black guitarist dude playing electric blues like a mother. Wonder whatever happened to him. -
Word.

"Do you remember Rick Astley? He had a big fat hit that was ghastly. He said I'm never gonna give you up or let you down. Well I'm here to tell ya that Dick's a clown Though he was just a boy when he made that vow. I'd bet it all that he knows by now." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6hzkBihaew

Not the first, but you've reminded me of one of the first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn1CXbf2xF8

Couldn't agree less - his Letterman appearances were an encouraging revelation to my 13 year-old self: a kid with irreverent tendencies who was beginning to suspect that everything mainstream was bullshit.

George Steinbrenner in Critical Condition
Sir Stewart replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
If he didn't exist, NY would have had to invent him. RIP to a legend. -
Yeah, no bullshit. American Splendor the film was a great tribute to his unique POV. It's cool at least that Hank Azaria is apparently playing him in the Smurfs movie.
-
Yeah Clive Davis can go blow - he's the king of these stupid projects. Glad this didn't happen!

I can relate to your friend though - took me two failed attempts before finally getting hooked and devouring it. Now re-re-reading: The World According To Garp - I always sorta thought I'd pick this up again when I became a dad, and that's how it's worked out.
