I sort of was kidding with the 'of all songs' comment. It's catchy and works for a late night TV performance. But yeah, I just don't dig it.
-
God I wish I saw that lineup.

Why Secret of the Sea, of all songs.

I look forward to the replies in this thread, nice idea. It's not a song, but the first thing this reminded me of is Bob Dylan's 1991 Lifetime Grammy acceptance speech: "Well," he said, "my daddy, he didn't leave me much, you know he was a very simple man, but what he did tell me was this, he did say, son, he said" - there was a long pause, nervous laughter from the crowd - "he say, you know it's possible to become so defiled in this world that your own father and mother will abandon you and if that happens, God will always believe in your ability to mend your ways."

What's the consensus on Wilco (The Album)?

I can't believe I really used the word canon. What a dink. -
And I just learned that the "basic package" I subscribe to (and pay $15 a month for) is exactly what I'd be getting if I had a digital converter instead. Fuck cable companies.

This is New York City, not a horror movie. -
Your Favorite Nuances/Parts of Wilco Songs

Ha, yes. I always picture some version of the opera star from that Bugs Bunny cartoon. -
Nobody makes lists anymore. EDIT: I really thought we were in the RTT here

Cpl. Walter "Radar" O'Reilly: [examining Lt. Col. Blake's ear] Wow! Lt. Col. Henry Blake: What? What is it? What do you see? Cpl. Walter "Radar" O'Reilly: I can't describe it... it's almost like a little Nativity scene...!

Like inside Col. Blake's ear?

Which comes first, being an asshole or living in Boston?

Let's have one, Todd!

^^How did you know that?

Do I have to tell my child someday that he/she was in utero at Fenway for a Red Sox loss?

Nice tribute from his brother in the Boston Globe: My brother, Gang Starr’s Guru
-
I wish I had a bumper sticker that read USE YOUR FUCKING BLINKERS.
-
What a shame. A great MC. Boston liked to claim Gang Starr for its own even long after they'd packed up. RIP

New Blur song "Fool's Day" part of Record Store Day in Great Britain.

Yeah, JP is an island unto itself: hard to get to, hard to leave.
-
I went hoping to find the Beastie disc, and walked out with Summerteeth, so yeah. tinnitus, you ever check out Rhythm & Muse in JP? My visits are way too few and far between, but it's a really cool place.
-
It may not be irony, but it certainly is something that I bought a record on Record Store Day only to discover my needle is cooked when I go to play it.
-
It is a cool song, yeah. I don't doubt it's from those sessions, I just wonder how much they tinkered with it. Also: this song could be relevantly discussed in three separate threads on this board right now. Ha ha.
