Taken from Wikipedia....someone asked about Jay's ratings so ... "Ratings Leno did not expect his show to beat competing first-run episodes, but to do better than reruns, in part because topical jokes benefit from the "immediacy" of the time slot versus 11:30 pm. A television analyst predicted that Leno would finish in "a safe third place" every night. NBC research before the show's debut indicated that fans of Leno would watch Leno two to three times a week. NBC sees a 1.5 rating for the show in the 18–49 demographic as "viable" and a 1.8 as a "home run". NBC told Leno that at a 1.5 ratin

True. But I feel like Lowell wasn't a proper Bostonian show (before it rained), even though it was nice and I had to drive 10 minutes to get there. 1 Single Orpheum show seems like too little, especially if they don't hit Boston this summer and do Tanglewood or Pines Theater. Not that any Wilco fan from Boston minds a drive out to Western MA. They could throw everyone for a loop and not come back again until the fall and limit their venues to indoor only.

I highly doubt it. It would seem to "nip it in the bud" for a Wilco summer venue show in Jun-early Sept in Boston. At least that's the impression that I get from these smaller venues. Meaning 2 shows in Boston in April would offset a sellout at say the Bank Of America Pavillion in say late August.

Speaking of Mark McGwire, did anyone see David Ortiz on Jimmy Fallon last night? He looked pretty trimmed down and fit then I've ever seen him (though he was wearing the always flattering black) I know that I read that he was "very serious" about a workout regimen & diet, but I'm not sure if that's the problem with his recent at-bats.

I think after Sunday night all of the #1 seeds will be doing the buh-bye dance out of their respective towns. So BAL over IND NYJ over SD ARI over NO DAL over MIN If I am wrong, I will submit my pinky toe to the board. Edit: BAL has a lot of confidence going into IND, but they need to realize that they beat the 2010 version of the Patriots. If there's one that I think can go either way, it's this one.

I received this artwork from John Titor through hotmail in the distant past. I will now submit it to the world. The compact disc didn't make it through the wormhole. It is not known if this came from one of the multiverses created directly from the pressing of this particular record. Past. Future. Fuck it. Like the present it is a gift.

I'll have to find the Letterman bit from tonight where he talked about the NBC Shuffle. It's not on youtube yet. Funny and honest stuff. Also, Craig Ferguson said a lot too on this matter.

Fair enough! The great twist would be that Bono is really the Anti Christ. -

I don't see why he or anyone in that position of celebrity can't do both. Or could someone even do the issues with such a broad platform without already being established as someone big? Well, I'm sure you know that the ZOO TV tour was a "wink wink" joke. Bono really had fun with making fun of his 80s persona with such characters as The Fly, the Mirror Ball Man, and Mr. MacPhisto. I don't know why I typed that...oh, maybe just to say that he's aware of his ego and has in the past made fun of it. He has walked the fine line of parody in the past decade. I'm shocked that those kids used AT -

(I'm not picking on you Speed Racer, I'm using the above as an example of pop music) You should have issues with the people who played the music and not U2. I highly doubt that said track and cross country team really played Grace or New York off of that album to get them pumped up. I agree Beautiful Day got severely overused, especially by the New England Patriots. But you should really be blaming the fickle people who jumped on the Beautiful Day bandwagon and not the U2 bandwagon. It was the song of that moment for whatever reason and now I'm sure those same people either scoff at the idea o -

You got to love the idea that we actually have a portable communication tool that you can call somebody on and talk to them and/or text message someone. Most people choose to text instead and they do it while they fucking drive. Why is that? Is that because most people have a hard time to know when to end a conversation and are thereby ashamed to call someone? What about all those people who would laugh in school when our teachers told us that people "back in the day" used to send each other letters: lovers, brothers, soldiers, Publisher's Clearing House? How could we change our collective mi

U2 sure seems like the George Clooney of the music industry. People love to hate them both and don't know why. So George and Bono want to sing you a little song from their tattered hearts. Boys! No one likes us-We don't know why We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try But all around, even our old friends put us down Let's drop the big one and see what happens We give them money-but are they grateful? (though it's not by the crateful) No, they're spiteful and they're hateful They don't respect us-so let's surprise them We'll drop the big one and pulverize them Asia's crowded and Eu -

Creed. No questions asked. No doubt about it. I would post a pic of them to get my point across that all that it takes is one look at that monstrosity of a "lead singer" and you'd say "uh huh". But I won't cause my fellow VCers to turn to stone. -
This reminds me of a ticket story from this past September for U2. I know that this is why I was helping out Nomis in his "are they real tickets" quest. I sold a U2 GA ticket on the 1st of September because I hadn't seen the money from my best friend's friend whom I really don't know too well. The week of the show I had to scramble to find him a ticket. I kept hearing "maybe" via my best friend on his friend seeing U2 3 times over the course of 2 weeks and 2 cities. Some guy on the U2 message board sold me a GA ticket for $50 and threw in the other GA ticket for no extra cost. He couldn't m

I'm afraid of the ticket scalpers (online or not) abusing this return policy. Although, it could be used to reveal who these people are lurking in the shadows. I'm sure these people have "ticket runners" and don't buy all of these tickets themselves.(yeah, I'd like to return 20 tickets...uhm?!) Imagine ticket scalper A the night before the show or day of and says "ok, I can't sell these overpriced tickets at $200 a pop, so I'm going to get my money back and not lose anything." As opposed to ticket scalper A losing money, since no one (save for the rich) would pay $200 for a ticket and that sc

Yes. I like the idea, but I find it too addictive for me and probably others to buy like crazy then return like crazy. I'll give you an example 1) You need a ticket so you catch a ride with your friends and you find a person selling a ticket outside the venue for below face value to get rid of the ticket. You buy it and everything goes smoothly. 2) Same scenario except you are afraid of buying from people on the street no matter how low they go to get rid of a ticket, so you venture to the nearby box office where it is still face value plus a service charge. Obviously example 1 can bite you

Ah...I had to reread this a few times. At first I thought you meant that you wanted everyone to have an option of sending their tickets back if they decided they couldn't go or even worse deciding not to go. That would be horrible. I know of a few friends who I stopped buying tickets for about 5-7 years ago. (the fact that I had to buy tickets for them speaks volumes about their shitty passive nature. Edit: On top of that the tickets had to be the best seats in the house and the cheapest, if they passed inspection I'd get paid the night of the show or after the fact) It was all "I'd like to go
