I just saw a Jeff Tweedy tweet from yesterday that said that his favorite movie about the music biz is Phantom Of The Paradise. Strangely enough I just saw this at my local record store and it was brand new on Blu-ray. Early Brian DePalma. I almost made a blind purchase, but figured it'd be on NetFlix at some point. https://twitter.com/JeffTweedy/status/625794516109275136 Ha! From those tweets it looks like Judd Apatow replied to Tweedy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9yof8cwli4&feature=youtu.be I'm hooked! I just watched the trailer for it and I love that 70s visual aesthetic of real

It was 88 & 89 and there was another one done in 90 that ended the series officially. The guy that played Sallah in Indiana Jones played Kingpin, I think. It should be on YouTube.

I watched some of the Spider-Man reruns in the mid 80s on a channel that used to play them on Saturday afternoons. I didn't like how he used to only catch garden variety criminals. I guess his wide net of super villains was off limits. I also remember the made for TV Incredible Hulk movies that brought in Thor & Daredevil. The next thing that I want to find on YouTube is the 3hr 8 min Salkind cut of Superman that was shown on ABC in 1982.

Dodgers acquire Mat Latos & Michael Morse from the Marlins. Hmm. Are they out of the Hamels sweepstakes? If there was a VC like button, I would for the image above this post.

I watched the 1978 TV pilot for Dr. Strange on YouTube after midnight. It's just what the doctor ordered. I loved the overall look of it and I'm a sucker for sets over special fx. Jessica Walter was pretty hot and so was the actress who played Clea. The guy that played Dr. Strange (Peter Hooten) was in the original The Inglorious Bastards in the same year. He had the pornstache and questionable perm going for him here. This never got picked up into a full series, but it was much better than the terrible Captain America made for TV movies around the same time. Interestingly enough this came ont

Angels acquire OF David DeJesus from the Rays. And.... Angels acquire OF David Murphy from the Indians.

Yeah! The Red Sox really need to trade Koji. There's no point in keeping him, if they continue to go on 8 game losing streaks. I do wish that they resigned Andrew Miller in the offseason, but now they'll have to scramble to find a new closer at some point. Asking Price? I don't know, man. Dombrowski is looking to add more pitching. Mike Leake is on his radar.

It looks like Papelbon is headed to Washington. Not 100% official yet, but almost done. That's an interesting within the division trade that I've ever seen. I guess Toronto didn't have what Philly wanted? (EDIT 6p.m. EST) I guess the hold up in the trade is having it in writing that Papelbon will be closing for the Nationals. I'm not sure how Drew Storen likes this potential news, but it won't be bad to have a setup man with 29 saves under his belt this season. Royals DFA Joe Blanton to make room for Cueto. Edwin Jackson was DFAd last week by the Cubs. Wonder who will pick up these types of

Oakland sends Ben Zobrist to K.C. for some unnamed pitchers. I'm sensing a Royals-Giants rematch. Anyone else?

Colorado Rockies send Troy Tulowitzki & LaTroy Hawkins (added in the press after trade was announced 15 min ago) to Toronto Blue Jays for Jose Reyes & RHP Miguel Castro (added in the press after trade was announced 1hr ago). I'm not too sure how this really helps either team. It must be a money dump. The big word on the street was that Toronto needed pitching. This reminds me of the Red Sox in 04 trading away Nomar. Tulo is the face of the franchise. I'm not sure how the people in Colorado will react to this news. Will they move Reyes this week for some minor leaguers? Or will they t

I just remembered that I have a special live version of Impossible Germany where the solo is in between the verses. It's from Montreal July 10, 2006. It's not on Sooutoftune, but the next show is from Toronto. Not sure how many times they "road tested" it this way or if it was a mistake, but it's pretty cool! I also loved the lower register for What Light when they started playing that one in 2006. The 2 Chicago shows in November from that year were incredible. The only time that I've seen them in Chicago. Tanglewood Aug 12, 2008 is also worth a listen. The Total Pros joined them for a lot -
The only Maine store I've been in is the one in downtown Portland. It was next door to a very cool video store that had some rare stuff. I'll have to pay attention to a going out of business sale or they'll move their stock elsewhere. A year ago tonight I was at the Portsmouth, NH store before & after TWEEDY played next door at the Music Hall. It's great that they close at midnight. They have a much bigger vinyl selection than the Salem store which is right next to my town in NH.

Where do you live? I know that they have a few stores in ME. They've special ordered Split Enz (Australian Releases) and some harder to find DVDs for me.

I've seen a ton of Wilco vinyl at Bull Moose Records in NH. I still have that 6-30-03 show that I talked about. I uploaded Laminated Cat with Jim O'Rourke to sendspace. I won't post the link here or maybe I can. PM me for now or check your PMs. Unfortunately, Jeff announces Jim O'Rourke to come out and help them with this song during the Heavy Metal Drummer file. So this begins with "we wrote this." It also sounds like O'Rourke sticks around for Kicking Television. -
I can't believe that I missed The State when it was streaming not too long ago. It looks like that's on Hulu. And I think that Stella was on there too at some point.

I enjoyed The Birthday Boys season 1. I thought that some bits were hit & miss like most sketch comedy. I think season 2 just came on NetFlix like a month ago. I'll certainly check it out. I wanted to check out Big Time In Hollywood, FL, but it didn't appear to be on Comedy Central's On Demand menu. I can't wait for Wet Hot American Summer. That should be fun.

Tales From The Crypt. Tenacious D. Kids in The Hall are nowhere to be found on HBO Go or On Demand. I just checked and YouTube has full episodes of Tales From The Crypt uploaded. Crackle is free, but features commercials.
-
Larry Sanders was on NetFlix streaming when it was the new thing. Then all of the HBO/NetFlix legal battles happened and it's nowhere to be found. However, some HBO shows are streamed on Amazon Prime. Hey Now! Larry Sanders is on Crackle! As is Seinfeld. I'm not sure if Crackle works as a paid subscription, since I've got the 1st episode streaming right now.

I noticed that too! I think that it was on HBO Go for a brief period and it was removed almost overnight. They have added Luck recently which surprised me considering the bad press that that show got with the horse controversy. They also casually added a few other shows recently (Funny Or Die Presents). Sadly, Dream On isn't one of them. Fuck me! Mr. Show with Bob & David should be on there too! Wow! Sometimes I completely forget that. NetFlix has An Idiot Abroad. Or they had it a year ago.

Yeah, I was thinking of holding off until FX played season 1 again. The FX Now app sucks! It doesn't allow you to watch older episodes of past seasons. It is pretty good though for current episodes. I've heard nothing but great things for The Babadook. You're a braver man than I am. I'll have to find a time in the early morning where it's really light out to watch it. I'll be done with Daredevil and Sense8 within a week. These are both great shows and I'm consistently watching these more than the other NetFlix series (Orange Is The New Black & Hemlock Grove). The fastest NetFlix show

Damn! The one FX show that I put off to watch when I'd have a dead period is also the toughest one to get. I already used a useless Free Month of Hulu back in May. I had access to shows that aired within the past 3 or so weeks. There were just bonus features and clips for Fargo. I think Hulu recognizes my IP address because it won't let me create a new account. Oh well! I'll have to grab the discs from NetFlix. Speaking of FX does anyone here watch The Strain? What do you think of it? I enjoy it, but some story lines make me want to hit fast forward. I also think that this would be better su

Yeah, it's June 30th. Sorry about that. There are a few shows from that spring tour the same year that are worth getting too. I'm almost positive that there is a show in late April & early May that I had that featured More Like The Moon & Less Than You Think which actually started being played in late 2002. Those shows are 4-28-03, 5-01-03, & 5-03-03. The 2 Chicago shows in Sept 2003 are also worth it. Actually, the Eugene show in September is pretty amazing too. That was a radio broadcast, I think. I'm almost positive that I have the DC show in my iTunes. It's up to people -

Washington D.C. 2003 - I hope that you have health insurance because your face will be melted off from the 13 minute version of Laminated Cat where Tweedy & Jim O'Rourke shred. It also features an early version of At Least That's What You Said and the funky version of Muzzle Of Bees. Sunken Treasure is pretty killer too! -
Let me offer an alternative viewpoint on why this didn't happen at Solid Sound. I don't think they wanted to distract away from the artists & art at their own festival. Not to mention the majority of people there are either camping or staying at hotels. Are you going to let your fans listen to the whole album on a YouTube stream? The big part that gratified people was that Wilco sent us the album for download and we didn't have to go through iTunes. My smart phone couldn't download the album via WIlco. Concierge, may I buy a CD-R to attach to the hotel lobby computer to put Star Wars on cd
