This weekend over a 48 hour period I saw Inception twice. And let me tell you folks: IT IS 1,000 TIMES BETTER THE 2ND TIME!!! I don't want to spoil anything, but from my above statement it should allow some insight into the narrative. It really isn't that convoluted, if you give it your 100% focus and attention. What can I say about it: The cinematography is breathtaking. The special effects are old school traditionalist with lots of in camera tricks. The acting is all top notch. The pacing is flawless. There is not a moment wasted or a space on the screen wasted. The score is fucking beau

Today I had an old friend die...

Your story made me think of an old Elton John song off of the Tumbleweed Connection record. I think it is somewhat appropriate. I hear you on your thoughts about life. I lost a high school friend of mine while in high school at the age of 16. Talking Old Soldiers Why hello, say can I buy you another glass of beer Well thanks a lot that's kind of you, it's nice to know you care These days there's so much going on No one seems to want to know I may be just an old soldier to some But I know how it feels to grow old Yeah that's right, you can see me here most every night You'll always see m -
Odd that I read this and then read the following on MLB Trade Rumors: "people connected to the Cubs expect manager Lou Piniella to retire after the season when his contract expires. Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg could replace Piniella as Cubs skipper.

Thanks for making this thread! Now I/we know how to pickpocket you all at the next Wilco show!!!

I apologize. I didn't read Jayson's posts because he began it with "I'm 17 years old....".

To me it's pretty irrelevant what kids listen to these days, since the term "kids" is so broad and vague. Are we talking about tweens, teens, college kids or young professionals? What about Minor Leaguers? I know that "kids" somewhere are listening to WIlco. Anyways, getting to Sex Nap's comment about Wilco radio play I have an interesting and frustrating story that I'd like to share with you. In Boston on WFNX they have an A-Z weekend where they play songs with the 1st letter of the alphabet then end up on Z on Sunday night. I ended up messaging them on their Facebook board to request Wi

It is good for Chicago in the long run. It builds character. It's kind of like working at an apple orchard when you're 12.

Ah, the ole' WIlco Pusher. That's how I got the majority of my friends to get into them. If I never pushed Wilco onto them, they probably would never have heard of them. This really might not be the best business model, but it certainly has worked for them it seems.

Oh, and another thing that had me laughing was when my best friend who subscribes to "The Man" philosophy and a whole host of others like him got pissed when Kobe won the MVP Award for the NBA Finals. A lot of people felt that Pau Gasol deserved it, but they said that they gave it to Kobe for being Kobe Bryant. Let me see if I get their philosophy. Ok. It's ok for an individual to be "The Man" and win an NBA Championship for the good of their own "Legacy", but when they get the (read: Individual) NBA FInals MVP Award then they throw a hissy fit. Allow me to rent a bus for the lot of you to d

I am going to say something that hasn't been said on here, but has been kind of implied. "The Man" fans are more concerned with the individual's legacy instead of the team's legacy which in my book is a huge mistake. It's as if they view the team as a rental and not the player. Obviously by doing this they completely empower the individual that usually brings teams to their knees during negotiation processes like we just saw.

No, but I like where your head is at. It's the elusive NBA Championship with a shiny golden ball that looks like a shiny bald head. I'm not sure who Pat Riley would be. I haven't thought that far ahead. (rubs chin) Who has really greasy hair in D.C. Comics?

Hey, at the least it can give all of the folks something to talk about at the local bars for the next eternity. But in all seriousness (although I do kind of mean that above) I think by their rationale that Wade is a better player. They need to keep some consistency with their harebrained logic. Plus, people will love to tear down LeBron when he wins in this current situation. A Very Special Example: Let's take this perspective - Superheroes: Superman can not defeat Lex Luthor on his own and he has never beaten him ever in this alterna history I am creating. He seeks out help from Batman

From U2.com this morning: Live Nation Entertainment announced today that the U2 360° tour dates in the US, which were recently postponed due to Bono’s emergency back surgery, have all been rescheduled for Spring/Summer 2011 with all tickets being valid at the rescheduled performances. The 2010 European tour, which has not been affected, begins as scheduled on August 6th in Turin. U2’s manager Paul McGuinness thanked fans for their ongoing support, “We’re delighted the dates are rescheduled and in all the same venues we originally planned to play. It hasn't been easy to accomplish this a

Right. But these people want to put Bird, Magic & Michael on the highest NBA pedestal. Then on the 2nd tier are those teammates that Winston listed. Now the confusion arises for these fans as to where to put LeBron and Wade. If LeBron "had won on his own", he'd be in the highest tier of NBA greats. Now a lot of these people want to put him in the 2nd tier, if he ever wins in Miami. Edit: I should also note that I can see where an NBA fan is coming from for wanting to have games where LeBron, Wade & Bosh played against each other instead of on the same team. It takes away from t

I guess the general consensus amongst delusional & revisionist NBA fans is that those teammates you listed were there as a matter of fact. And not brought in as a free agent. They kind of all grew up on their respective teams together surrounding their own respective "The Man": Jordan, Bird, & Magic. Although, Magic got there as a draft pick after Kareem had been there for awhile doing his own thing. So I guess bottom line of thinking that I can read into is that those teammates only became name stars because of who & where they were in the league.

May you receive unlimited calzones in heaven. In fact, I'm going to send one right now....balloon boy....... R.I.P. The Boss Now there's only Bruce & Tony Danza left. -
I think you just answered your own question without reading or thinking too much into/about it. (and that's ok) Let me explain by discussing a 2 hour phone conversation I had with my best friend who is a huge Celtics fan and on top of that a fan of the NBA. I ,on the other hand, am a huge Red Sox fan and MLB fan, so I don't exactly see eye to eye with his perspective on the NBA. Basically, my friend's argument over this was that it would be like what if Bird decided to join Magic Johnson in Los Angeles during their prime. It would be a joke and there would be no direct competition there that

You should have smashed your mother-in-laws dentures with a polo mallet. Whether or not they were in her mouth at the time of the smashing is entirely up to you. Then you should have yelled "Go guard the border in Arizona!".

Lest not forget that last year at the Trade Deadline the Red Sox could have acquired Victor Martinez & CLIFF LEE for Justin Masterson & CLAY BUCHHOLZ. It'll take awhile to make a firm statement on whether or not the best trades you make are the ones that never happen. (read: Jon Lester for Johan Santana)

Either way the Yankees will make out in the end (read: offseason). 1.) They pass on giving up 6th rated prospect C Jesus Montero who would come up right when Jorge decides to hit Sunny Side Acres. 2.) They get to sign him after he comes off of the Rangers' post season run (I don't think they'll get too far. Although, I love the possibility of not seeing the Angels again in the post season) on their own terms and not lose any prospects. 3.) They get to miss him tonight in Seattle. 4.) They'll probably get another "Rental" out of someone with lesser value.

3:57pm: The Rangers will acquire Lee and Mark Lowe for Justin Smoak and three others, according to Sherman. We'll see how long until this one gets debunked.

RE: Cliff Huxtable to NYY deal off: 3:41pm: The Mariners had concerns about Adams' (NYY) health and talks broke down from there, according to Olney. Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News points out that Smoak is not in the Rangers' lineup tonight. Edit: Yankees setting sights on Werth now... An official of one team the Phillies discussed Werth with told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark that he would be very surprised to see the Phils trade him. Stark reports that the Phillies appear to have evaluated the market for Werth, Ibanez and Shane Victorino. The Phillies would have interest in Vazquez if
