  1. 3:07pm: The Rangers are working 'really hard' to acquire Lee, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. 2:57pm: The Mariners didn't accept the Yankees' offer of Montero, Adams and a third prospect, so the Yankees may walk away from the discussions, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com. 2:44pm: The Mariners are backing off, according to Sherman. The Yankees believe they are no longer in the Lee sweepstakes, as the M's have gone in another direction. Sherman says 'the Yankees aren't getting Cliff Lee,' since another team has entered discussions aggressively. Meanwhile, Olney cites 'big
  2. What a silly emotional roller coaster ride this has been for certain cities. From a fan of the Boston Celtics I'm not too happy with the Big 3 returning. They will be pampered throughout the season to gain a slot into the post season. This isn't really fair to most season ticket holders. I'm not one of those people, but I have friends who are and they wish that they dismantled the team and added around Perkins & Rondo. Paying big money to guys pushing 35 etc. seems a bit foolish, but keeps fans happy because they're back in green. RE: The Hysterical Emotionally Flawed 5 Page Ex Girlfr
  3. A bit more on this from the fantastic MLB Trade Rumors website: The Tigers haven’t ruled out trading Rick Porcello, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. They pushed the 21-year-old's next Triple A start back a day, though it’s not because of an injury. GM Dave Dombrowski said he doesn’t plan to move Porcello, but acknowledged that anything could happen. “I don’t ever use the word ‘untouchable’ on any players,” Dombrowski said. “But he’s not a guy we’re looking to trade.” The Tigers have tens of millions coming off the books after the season, since Jeremy Bonderman, Nate Robertson
  4. I read that they might move Vazquez to get a big power bat off the bench like Ty Wigginton from Baltimore. They are also looking at A's reliever Michael Wuertz and are in the recent sweepstakes of getting Jayson Werth. MLB Trade Rumors Now we'll see how "REACTIVE" Theo Epstein gets before July 31st. I think they're going to move ahead with what they've got which is kind of shaky to keep them in contention. You don't want everyone coming back healthy with one month to get the Wild Card.
  5. With all of this hoopla I think people missed out on the new LeBron James iPhone being released today. It can only be set to vibrate because it doesn't have any rings.
  6. I will be announcing my dinner plans for tonight in an hourlong special on the Food Network at 9p.m. Please tune in and bask in the glow of my fabulousness. Early reports are suggesting that I may eat at Texas Roadhouse. Nay. Just wait and see.
  7. LeBron James should begin his "Special" by getting into his Bentley and just start laughing to himself all the way to the bank. When he gets there he should count his Benjamins directly in front of the camera up until 9:59p.m. In the last minute LeBron should announce who he has signed with only to be cut off at the last second and you have to pay $19.99 to hear the team name.
  8. It's sad but the sole thought that popped into my mind was that scene in The Naked Gun where that woman falls onto somebody during the "Enrico Pallazzo" scene.
  9. This wasn't in MA was it? That sounds like a friend of mine that works at Outback, although he got into Wilco 3 years ago. He's heard Secret Of The Sea, Heavy Metal Drummer, I'm The Man Who Loves You, California Stars, You Never Know, & I'm Always In Love on the Outback satellite radio.
  10. My dad keeps telling me that Elton & Leon are going to have a tour in the fall. It's going to celebrate Elton's 40 year anniversary of 1st playing in America at the Troubador and also 11-17-70. I guess Leon Russell was at the Troubador show in the front row. He's not sure how big the venues will be, but I'm guessing medium sized.
  11. NSFW A lot of fun to watch. Obviously lots of Joe Pesci & Al Pacino.
  12. What??!!! Jerry Remy is one of the MOST entertaining, lively, comic, & spontaneous color commentators out there. I know it's him you refer to because Don Orsillo has no noticeable New England accent. Edit: Every other game it seems like these guys crack each other up into laughing fits on air for an inning.
  13. I would like to see what the AL would look like without the DH in an alternative reality type of way. Picture all of those DH guys finding a defensive job on any team. It would be interesting who would fit where and how many prospects that affects from ever coming up into the big leagues. Not to mention eliminating a lot of those utility guys' jobs around the league. Take a look at Boston, since I'm most familiar with their current particular situation. Would you have let go of Ortiz & Lowell before this season began because you signed Beltre & already had Youkilis? Or would you ha
  14. Zambrano & Ozzie Guillen Din Din A No Win Apparently after Friday's outburst/meltdown of Zambrano, he ended up having a rooftop dinner with Ozzie. This begs the question: would it have been ok if he pitched a decent game and had made plans to eat with Ozzie after the game (they are friends apparently) or is this completely uncalled for after what he did on Friday? If I was a Cubs fan I would be kind of pissed, but people got to eat. Edit: (I remember people being pissed when Manny Ramirez (while with the Red Sox) claimed to have the flu to skip out on a Yankees game and then reporters
  15. Agreed. It was quite the tag team of nuttiness to have Cage and Val Kilmer. Admittedly, I lost interest in the last 20 or so minutes, but Cage was great in his role.
  16. Hmm. I could have sworn that when Braden got his Perfect Game they (ESPN) made a big deal out of it being Gabe Kapler getting the last out in that game and Buerhle's game. In fact, a trivia question at our local bar was the above (incorrect) statement. I guess people around here were confused because of the amazing catch that was made off of Kapler's near HR to ruin the Perfect Game.
  17. Being a Red Sox fan I can 100% guarantee you that it was Gabe Kapler who made the final out in both the Buerhle & Braden game. Proof About Gabe
  18. Edwin Jackson 149 pitches No Hitter Against his former team Didn't the Tigers trade him last year? Wow! 4 months in and 2 No Hitters and 2 Perfect Games and 1 Perfect Game that isn't officially one due to well... Oh, and the Rays have been No Hit 3 times in the last 12 months.
  19. Just throwing in my .02 cents. I think it's pretty obvious that the possibility of a 2nd Wilco performance on Sunday is HIGHLY likely. I think that they want to keep it a SURPRISE and make it come off as improvised. People are going to be there to see Tweedy anyways. It's not like someone else is closing out on Sunday night. I picture Tweedy doing his solo set then being joined by Nels, John & Pat, Glenn and Mikael (almost like David Byrne in Stop Making Sense or more accurately Sunken Treasure DVD) throughout his performance. I'm also hoping that they come out on songs that weren't p
  20. Congrats to Yovani Gallardo (Milwaukee) on getting a CG with 12 Ks and 5 Hits. Edit: He's actually tied for 3rd for Strikeout Leaders in the NL (obviously). 1. Lincecum 113. 2. Haren 109 3. Kershaw/Gallardo 103 Congrats to the White Sox for their 9th straight victory and turning themselves into possible buyers (instead of sellers as noted by the MLB writers) at the trade deadline. Floyd, Putz, & Jenks combine for 2 Hitter against Atlanta. Could just be facing the NL that accounted for 9 straight?
  21. LOVED this film. Somehow Sunday became Toy Story day for me. I DVRed the 1st 2 over the last couple of weeks and finally put aside some time late afternoon to watch them and it didn't take that long to get through. Just shy of 3 hours. A close friend of mine told me that he'd be managing at a different theater. I ended up seeing the 3D version because the 2D began earlier and there was an "IMAX" version later on. I am dragging this out because I felt no need really to enjoy this film in 3D. Most Pixar films already look 3D with their spatial looking animation. There were a few chase scenes
  22. I picked up this for my father. More specifically, I paid for it. I'll watch it eventually.
  23. It appears that Pixar and DreamWorks are having a tough time to think outside the Disney "Princess" box. All of those famous Disney cartoons are synonymous with their respective "Princesses". As a male, I can't for the life of me recall the princes' names in each film. It's ironic that Disney decided to subvert their own creation(s) by coming out with Enchanted. As a potential future father, I'd like to see a more diverse set of strong, independent, smart female characters in cartoons. Are you saying that the Disney "Princesses" don't fit the bill? It's certainly debatable. It's a fine line of
