What are your Plans for Inauguration Day?

One more thought, with The Residents in mind....I think I'll refer to this new guy without the opening letters of his inaugural title. Makes a good deal more sense to me....not "President Trump", but Resident Rump. Now let's see how quickly we can remove him from the Residence. -

This sounds like a plan I can get behind. And in the interest of inclusivity, some Black Russians should be consumed as well. I love that you are teaching your children about ALL the facets of a democracy, including the necessity of sometimes resisting those in power. Those babies are our future! Perhaps a smallish hurricane will oblige us. FAKE POST! I think Sunday is going to find a lot of us footsore but proud of ourselves. History will smile on these marches that represent the real majority. I want to hear your experiences later...I'll post a post-march thread later s -
This is harder than it sounds! I managed 102 but not without some brain-wracking! What's that, about a C?

Thanks for the tip-off. Taking care of it now.

For myself, I will be keeping the TV off. I know I will probably eventually see that awful moment of transition, but I can't bring myself to watch it happen on Friday. Instead I'll be listening to music and baking a birthday cake for my husband's birthday the following day. And the following day, we will be traveling to Los Angeles to join in the march there. How are you handling this bizarre time in our history?

The other day, I heard maybe the worst song ever

I don't agree that he won fair and square, not by any stretch of the imagination. I think time will expose just how crooked this "win" really was.

Thanks for posting that, Mike!

I like this description! Sammy Tweedy has an album out too.

Yay! See you!

You will get so sucked in! And I understand there is a second book, a follow-up collection of stories on the same premise. Yay! I might have to join your book club, if I can pass the stringent entrance qualifications.

Yeah, I'm doing all that too. It only makes sense.

Thanks for starting this fresh thread! The discussion definitely needs to continue.

I got a book from my daughter for Christmas which was so fascinating that it made me abandon the Vonnegut I was in the middle of. I blasted through my new book and finished it as my first book of the new year, yesterday. A great read! The book is called "Machine of Death". Yes, sounds grim but it isn't actually. It's a collection of stories by various authors, all based on the premise that a machine has been invented that, with a single drop of one's blood, can tell a person what their cause of death will be. Not when, only the cause. The stories spin out in all directions and detail the socie

Boss_Tweedy, I'm so glad 2016 brought some genuine joy to your family! I wish your dad continued health! Shug, you described my very-mixed New Years Eve feelings perfectly. I'm right there with you but we simply have to put things back to order in the world. There's no other option so we'll do whatever needs to be done. We'll help each other stay strong. And yes, we do that by choosing optimism and courage, by being decent to each other, even by snapping up some Wilco tickets to feed our souls for the fight. Go us!!!

As we enter a new year, heading into what seems to be a whole new world order, I am wondering how you are all holding up. These are the strangest of times! What are you planning to do differently in 2017? For myself, I will be having a very close look at what news sources I believe. How are you facing/bracing for what's ahead?

I know, I know! I too have never felt such trepidation going into a fresh new year. It should be bright and brilliant and full of hope, but this year those feelings are hard to come by. I urge you all to remember who you are and what you stand for. I hope you all will find the strength to surround those you love and those you meet in everyday life with compassion and support. I hope you will be brave enough to rise to the challenges this "new world order" presents. It is not "their" world...it is ours as well, and we have the right and absolutely the obligation to help steer this big inclusi

To those of you of the Christmas persuasion, I wish you a beautiful, calm day (but not too calm) centered on the love of your friends and family. I hope there will be shrieks of laughter, loving glances, gasps of happiness, delicious food, terrific surprises and sweet moments that are completely spontaneous and unpredictable. In short, I wish you Christmas in all its warmth! Also a big Hanukkah shout-out here. May blessings unfold for us all as the new year arrives! Make some good memories, everybody! Love your loved ones.

Yes! Perfectly fine to put either the Wilco part or the holiday part first. These are great! I knew that Grandma one was coming! Keep them coming! I love all of these so far, and I will probably be singing along incorrectly to carols when I run errands in a little bit. The tunes get a bit confused in the blending...

Ok, folks, you seemed to have much fun mangling Jeff's song titles in "Splice", and you made me giggle, laugh out loud and even struck me with profound thought with a few of your entries! But the whole time, I was keeping a secret, which only now can be revealed: I was just warming you guys up to play Christmas Splice! Let me warn you in advance, you are going to crack yourselves up doing this one! Same basic rules. Use two songs. In this case, one well-known Christmas or Holiday song and one Wilco song, spliced together into something new and magical! No changing any words to other ten

Keep up the very amusing good work! These are wonderful and maybe Jeff already has one of these new titles stuck in his head!
