  1. Which ones just really drop you in your tracks? The ones that, no matter what you're doing, you pause to sing along with? Or the ones that just make you swoon inwardly as you seem to manage to carry on a conversation? There are so many in this album! "so I'm not sure what's in her place/ maybe roses or Tanqueray" "sometimes I wish to set free/ the things that still matter to me" "And you know we could go spend ourselves like money/ Let's pretend we're hundred dollar bills" Somebody else's turn.
  2. Name me a book you wish you could entirely erase from your memory, simply so that you could discover it again as if for the first time. A book so good you wish it could be brand-new to you again. I'll go with "The Brothers K" by David James Duncan
  3. Hey Doug, I'm not sure why messages weren't going thru, but try again now. You can send just a test message first if you like. (I can't test message myself.) I've been getting my pm's regularly and don't see a reason it wouldn't go through. Glad you had ended the exchange & apologies because I misread the time stamp on it. That's what I get for squinting at my phone screen.
  4. Ok you two...when the conversation becomes one exclusive to two individuals going back and forth, it's time to realize that your conversation is of interest primarily to yourselves. In other words, time to take it off these public forums and into private messages, if you care to continue the discussion. Please, and thank you.
  5. I love your review, Uncle. Especially your take on Common Sense. (track 4) That one has continued to grow on me, detail by intricate detail.
  6. I know, right? The title song knocks me off my feet every time. But I don't know how you guys can rank the albums...to me it'd be like ranking animals, they're all a bit too different to compare: Uh..... tiger horse dog giraffe hamster elephant cat lion cow shark and I know I left some out! Oh, oh! Goat has to be in there somewhere...maybe about halfway even...and raccoon is really good, too....
  7. I thought I'd ask again...any of you wonderful stealth photographers get any pictures of Kevin Morby & band?
  8. Wonderful performance! Loved it. Jealous of you getting to see the taping, smf!
  9. A moment later as the crowd got a bit rowdy, some people beginning to call things out, Jeff warned, "Your audience ratings could drop."
  10. Paul, how in God's name did you get that review composed and posted so quickly??!! Impressive! I just want to say: If I only have one show like that in my life, I can die happy.
  11. Yes! And it seems like there are always a couple whoopers in every crowd, who wait for the quietest moment. Last night (14th) Jeff started into the poignant "Happiness" and at the quietest, sweetest moment, some woman blurted out, "I love you Jeff!" Hey, did anyone get any good photos of Kevin Morby & band? (Weren't they terrific?!)
  12. Thanks Carrie! Will check that out!
  13. I can confirm the setlist as printed was exactly as you have it, Paul. It was great seeing you. Awaiting your commentary!
  14. haha, i just posted one there too, with Pat cut out (Not on purpose!) It's just hard to fit them all into the frame! Bull Black Nova left me breathless. Holy cow!
  15. Sleep whenever you can, Wilconut. And congratulations on that newest Wilco fan! I so agree with you about schmilco...my husband & i were agreeing last night about how well it hangs together as an album, and how it wants to be heard as a whole. Everything fits, and the sequencing is perfect! New little Wilco fans everywhere! Congratulations!!! You get some sleep too. I remember how tempting it can be to want to watch the adorable new baby sleep, but seriously, that's your chance to sneak in a catnap! Do it!
  16. As always, Paul, a terrific summary of the show, weirdness, banter and all.
  17. What a wonderful quote that is! And holyshit, 60 feels just like 59, once you get past the actual day of. Hang in there and play Schmilco loud! Musical therapy is the best.
  18. I haven't commented yet on the album, because I've been too busy being just gobsmacked by the thing. I'll pay it the highest compliment I can....it is a worthy addition to the Wilco canon. This album has such depth and maturity to it, but by maturity I mean nothing in the direction of that goddawful "dad rock" label. I mean maturity in the sense that when an artist (artists) have really hit their stride, and found a place in their artistic career where they've learned to kind of get out of the way and let their creativity flow without interference, you get some of the very best that any form o
  19. What a great story! The 3-camera guy did alright with your iphone!
  20. You just have someone else press on the seam with the tip of a teaspoon. Easy! Listening to Schmilco while someone else does this is rumored to soothe the anxiety.
  21. PS Great profile picture! Isn't Scott the nicest guy?
