  1. Happy Fathers Day, all of you men blessed with offspring! They may never find the words or the right moment in which to tell you, but all those small (and large) things you just automatically do because you're "Dad" do not go as unnoticed as it might seem. Your children treasure you for every one of those things. And the older they get, the more they will be grateful for the simple but profound gift of a dad who loves them. So watch the basketball game with your feet up and snacks at hand. Today, you are king of the castle! Revel in it and have a beautiful, relaxed day!
  2. I always overplant basil, and forget how much it loves the summer heat! I think I've still got pesto frozen from last year. But yes, I've again planted 4 big basil plants. You've got to love a plant with such enthusiasm! My peppers and tomatoes are already beginning to get the upper hand. Can't eat them fast enough. I foresee frozen diced peppers and tomato sauces. What a good dad you've got, Calvino, for keeping them watered. It's all these little things dads do that call for us celebrating them today, and everyday. I raise a tomato to your pop! Tweedling, thyme may be a little less on my
  3. Clearly, I have too much thyme on my hands. What's growing...and overgrowing...at your place? Share your green thumbs!
  4. I've never seen it. Perhaps I should!
  5. I still have a couple of those, sealed, up on a closet shelf, waiting to become music for somebody.
  6. We've lost Muhammad Ali today. Rest in peace.
  7. Neat story, Tweedling. You have some great memories there.
  8. Thanks for the music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa7EkXpy8jE
  9. You'll have all that energy you used to use up at work. Congratulations on retirement, Lou!
  10. It was a delicious show and I'm still replaying it all in my head. Thanks as usual for all the careful detailing, Paul, and thanks to The Inside of Outside for the link to the clips and photos! A thoroughly satisfying evening. And who knew Mike Mills could play the basketball?! Agreed that the cameras were surprisingly unobtrusive and didn't distract. I can't wait to get to see that footage. Oh, and gorgeous lighting!
  11. Have a fabulous time and let all that stress melt away!
  12. Horrifying. The police is this country seem to have utterly lost their compass. "Shoot first, ask questions later" is not a viable strategy. I'm glad he wasn't killed!
  13. Very nice tribute. Thanks for sharing it!
  14. Sad. So very young. RIP, Prince.
  15. These are going to be very helpful to the band one day, if they tire of playing music (Please don't.) Some fascinating fields into which they can branch off. "Misunderstood" is either a counseling center specializing in teens, or a conflict-resolution department of some diplomatic corps.
  16. Got to musing on this the other day with my daughter, and we were cracking each other up with our suggestions. I thought it might be fun to play it here. The idea is that you take the title of any Wilco song and then imagine it was the name of a business. What would that business be, or do? Some titles are obviousness itself: "Kamera" It might simply be a camera store or repair shop. Then again, it could be a stylish name for a film production company, or maybe a modelling agency. "California Stars"? Sounds like a West Coast talent booking agency. "Jesus Etc." is a gift shop selling reli
  17. Rest in peace, Merle. You'll be sorely missed.
  18. The beginning of a beautiful thing! Thank you my dear Wilcos!
