  1. Thanks for making me spit coffee on my keyboard! And we aren't even going to discuss how I JUST bought my Solid Sound flights the day before this story broke....on United. But I pity the fool that tries to keep me from Solid Sound. If I get removed from a flight, my seat will be coming with me! (Yes I know, what would be the point, but it makes a colorful threat, doesn't it?)
  2. I had to look it up. What a gorgeous bird!
  3. That's a great photo, Tim! Another favorite memory was at SSF2 or maybe SSF3...They all run together in my head!...we had just watched the Autumn Defense turn in a terrific set in Courtyard C. Afterward, a friend and I approached to talk with John and Pat. I had a bag of my homemade beef jerky (a SSF tradition) and offered them some. About then cameras came out and pictures were wanted. John and Pat, ever gentlemen, posed graciously. My friend stepped beside John to pose and I framed them carefully. Beautiful smiles on a beautiful day...except I had to give one bit of stage direction: "Joh
  4. These memories of yours are bringing back so many of mine! Keep them coming! Who remembers the meetup foul-up at SSF 1, where the backroom at The Hub got double booked? No matter; we took our party around the corner to the Mohawk Tavern and had a wonderful Friday evening icebreaker, many of us meeting for the first time in person. We were all ridiculously giddy with anticipation...and it turned out to be better than we'd hoped it could be! That weekend was amazing start to finish. There's a reason so many of us are repeat visitors to our favorite theme park. North Adams keeps calling us b
  5. I am gearing up for what will doubtedly be another magical and unforgettable Solid Sound Festival, and I find my head is full of memories from SSF's 1 through 4. Memories like: Standing on the walkway just outside of the Airstream Trailer, looking over the grounds toward Joe's Field, contacting a friend I'd never met in person who was also there...and then we saw each other, one up in the air, one down by the picnic tables, and waved happily. A few minutes later we had crossed the space and met each other. Or that memory of Jeff in his Nudie suit, being dunked in the dunk tank that contr
  6. Sorry to hear about your dad, Jon. I'm sure it calmed him to have you at the hospital with him last night. I hope he has a fast recovery!
  7. Yep, it fills up fast and gets completely packed, so plan accordingly.
  8. Kevin, it is so easy to be depressed and cynical right now...I speak from firsthand experience!... but I choose not to give in to it because some one of those phone calls or other efforts is going to provoke a legislative conscience somewhere, and perhaps make a wild and unexpected difference in how it all plays out. We lose nothing but a few minutes to place these calls, and all I know is, doing nothing absolutely insures that we make no difference. I'd rather err on the side of having tried.
  9. Any of you looking to do whatever you can to impede Trump's vicious agenda may want to use this number from CREDO action to call senators and reject Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. I love this setup, which does all the work for you of contacting the senators who can make a difference. Just call the number and say you object to Gorsuch's nomination. It will patch you through to as many senators as you care to speak with! Remember November 9th and everything that's come since. Call and (figuratively at least) throw a brick through Trump's picture window! The number is 202 765-3399 Do i
  10. It is. Terrifying! It feels like we are all teetering on the edge of a precipice, afraid to look down but knowing that we have to. Whatever we are about to fall into, we need to know.
  11. Manafort's daughter sent emails to her sister about their dad's involvement in killings in the Ukraine. That came to light because those emails were hacked. I think Manafort is involved in shady shit all the way up to his eyeballs.
  12. I thank God I had the chance to see him live, once, in a small club. He didn't disappoint! Rest in peace, my good man, and thank you for everything you brought us.The world is a better place because you were in it.
  13. Happy St. Paddy's Day, Mariana! Pat sure can grow an impressive beard! It must scare away the snakes because I've never yet seen one at a Wilco concert.
  14. I's almost unfathomable how deep we have sunk in such a brief presidency. We HAVE to get him gone. Grrrr. Hideous and infuriating.
  15. If you don't mind a little expense for something that will be on hand for all future needs, I recommend the Victor Electronic Rat Trap. Not too big, lures rodent in with baited back wall and a floor which is electrified once a couple of the panels are stepped upon. It's powered by 4 C cell batteries which last practically forever. Mouse or rat enters, drawn by the food scent at the back wall (a bit of peanut butter works great) and is zapped. you never need to touch the rodent, you can just dump them from the trap into a bag and throw away. I love how effective it is and how simple to use. Go
  16. Rachel got played, pure and simple. We are all so damned anxious to see him removed, which can lead to missteps.
  17. Absolutely agree...we need to see who he's in bed with.
  18. It now appears this was leaked by Trump. (The tax document is stamped "client copy") Another diversionary tactic? Comey testifies tomorrow. Don't get distracted by shiny crap.
  19. I recommend Kevin Morby. Great stuff!
  20. Thanks for this recommendation - intelligent and beautiful kids' movies are always appreciated!
  21. Good luck. Today, I turned the tables and spied on my Samsung TV. So far, little to report.
  22. Mechanical stirrers are a thing. You set them in the pot and they move around, stirring. I don't trust them though. I suspect that when you leave the room (or turn your back) they stop stirring. Gumbo sounds fabulous!
  23. So who is going to snag this terrific Meet-and-Greet, VIP-tix opportunity? Look here to put in a bid, and may the Wilco godz smile down on you! https://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/item/item.action?id=275188087 Do some good with your income! This is a benefit for Northside College Prep in Chicago. Make our children smarter, meet Jeff Tweedy, and sit in the front at The Vic! Win/win/win and then some! Jeff will be his usual talented, engaging self...these are always really special shows! I'm already jealous of the winner.
  24. I take it you are watching it for the first time? if so, I envy you! That show creates its own world and sucks you right in. Enjoy! And you're right, Cranston is amazing.
