my first SG was the brown faded with the crescent moon inlays - around $400 used - LOVE LOVE LOVE it - i've since got a real SG standard but really think i prefer the feel and sound of the faded over the standard - the fadeds are about $600 new and a good entry point... the epiphone version of that gibson $2500 historic reissue with the maestro trem that came out last winter is suposedly not too shabby - for $2100 less than the gibson name could be a good entry point too.

I was looking to figure out the guitar and lyrics to wreckroom (more and more my favorite song in ages) and got carried away - wrote out the whole CD. I'm typically notorious for mis-hearing or interpreting things so feel free to debate what are sure to be plent of my mistakes - be at least its a starting point...

From the valley towards the mountain you get there through the valley go, with your eyes down and your there, and all you see in a flash, in a stream, golden and small relentless and understood in the hills - inside you if there's something that you've missed theres something you can(t) find - with time we are less and less evolving giants getting zoomed in focus on the planets and the life that you can't name don't you know they have names forget the mountains, the depths of dreaming let the valley forget me if there's something that you've missed or something you can(t) find - w

Our conversation was short and sweet It nearly swept me off-a my feet. And I'm back in the rain, oh, oh, And you are on dry land. You made it there somehow You're a big girl now. Bird on the horizon, sittin' on a fence, He's singin' his song for me at his own expense. And I'm just like that bird, oh, oh, Singin' just for you. I hope that you can hear, Hear me singin' through these tears. Time is a jet plane, it moves too fast Oh, but what a shame if all we've shared can't last. I can change, I swear, oh, oh, See what you can do. I can make it through, You can make it too. Love is so sim

Does anyone hear the vibes on Wishful Thinking?
MeDave replied to Adam2's topic in Solid State Technology
i don't know for 100% sure but i think what sounds like the eerie guitar/organ feedback noises behind the verse (from 1:45 - 2:08) (again from 2:57-3:11)(and at the end including the last high note that fades out) are Glenn with the bows on the vibes as he does on the on fillmore cd. its tough to pick out because there's definitely (ebowed?) guitars making similar noises throughout the song and a weird treated organ/synth carrying that little via chicago callback melody line before the first verse as well that is a similar sound but i think i'm hearing the bowed vibe in there as well. -
i was just looking at those 3rd hand pedals - sounds like a good idea.

yeah - i used to have a roland sh101 and i always sort of recognized that sound as a pretty standard analog synth witha pitch wheel type sound similar to what i could get out of the roland...

i don't know how "un-loud" you are looking for - but i just picked up a smaller version of my dream amp - a 50watt 1x12 Ampeg Reverberocket (got it cheap on ebay) - the clean channel is gorgeous, breaks up nicely when cranked and has the best sounding reverb i've ever heard... the dirty channel is a bit more fuzz than OD than i would like but i'm just running my pedals into the clean side anyhow. It is loud - no problem cutting through clear while jamming with drums and a 2x12 marshall who's owner likes to drown everyone out. i wish it had a speaker out but aside from that i'm very happy for w

yeah, i checked that out around the tulsa show - its a Reeves, which if i remember right are made from the original designs and by the same guy as the original british hiwatts... but the name hiwatt is tied up in legal limbo so hence - reeves.... http://www.musicianshotline.com/archive/co...reeves_amps.htm http://www.reevesamps.com/

I'll take it upon myself to say hey and welcome to this new little corner of VC. Over time - there have been a fair number of people who are interested in what gear the band uses, guitars, amps, pedals, keyboards, etc. and with a band like wilco where there is so much sonic innovation there's plenty of room to discuss it all. There are threads in the archives but i thought it'd make more sense to consolodate everything here. To start with it'll probably cover stuff a lot of us have been over, thats fine, feel free to add or ask whatever comes to mind... and to discuss your own gear/issu
