I walked out of "Solaris" (the original one, not the one with George Clooney). I know Tarkovsky is supposed to be some kind of genius, but I kept waiting for something to happen and it never did, so I took off. I also couldn't tolerate "Breaking the Waves" and watching Emily Watson shrieking and crying through the whole thing. My friends told me I missed out by walking out on it, but whatever.

I was vaguely disappointed to discover that the dude who plays Kensei isn't actually British.

There hasn't been anything going on in the UK in many years, IMO. I haven't been keeping up on much new music lately, but Spoon, Okkervil River, and Feist have put out great albums this year.
