Miami (OH), Minnesota and Wisconsin. I wouldn't say the underdog usually has the upperhand, but yeah, there have definitely been more than a few cases of the worse team saving their season by winning that game. That being said, I don't know when the last time was that either of them was as bad as Michigan this year. I'm not sure if you've had the opportunity to watch them, but however bad you think they are, they're actually much worse. Neither of their quarterbacks have any business starting in a Division I program, let alone a traditional powerhouse. If Minnesota's secondary didn't hav

I read that they wanted either Burnett or Lowe. So they're pursuing one in case they don't land the other. So if they landed everyone they want (and they won't), that would leave them with a rotation of Sabathia, Wang, Burnett or Lowe, Chamberlain, Pettitte. Mussina is probably going to retire, and Kennedy and Hughes will likely be either traded or at least demoted to the pen.

So someone must have finally pointed out to Rod Stewart that he hasn't recorded a good song in 35 years.

Yeah, FJM was the best sports site on the web, IMO. Funny, insightful writing, mostly picking apart bad sports journalism (Joe Morgan, yes, but also pretty much every other bad ESPN or Fox personality, and any baseball writer who ever wrote anything stupid). One of the guys who wrote it is a writer on the Office.

I sort of don't want to know the context. I don't want to ruin it for myself.

I don't know if it's going to result in actual employment, but I've at least been getting some bites lately, after months of hearing nothing about any of the jobs I've applied for. From July-September I had exactly one interview. Since them I've had a phone interview and attended some sort of weird company social event, and now have two interviews set up for next week. I really hope I don't blow this because if I don't have a job within the next couple of weeks there's going to be big trouble.

Anyone want to take a crack at this one?

FJM is calling it quits.

I've watched it before with an open mind. It didn't convince me.

What ever happened to that last guy anyway?

The main thing to me was just that I heard not one real reason why there should be a constitutional convention. I understand that by law it has to be on the ballot every so many years, but I don't know a single person who was for it, and the one television commercial I saw in favor of it didn't really offer any reasons why it was necessary.

I still love "Mockingbird Girl".

Yep. Gene Moore won for Cook County Recorder of Deeds. Can you believe it?

Begich is now leading by 3 votes. Yes, 3 votes.

I think that in 2012 the Republicans will nominate someone who is not that well known on the national stage yet.

Albert Pujols should win the NL MVP. Not sure who will win in the AL.

Actually, though, 2004 was the anomaly the among Hispanic vote, and even in that year, the Democrat was more popular. This years election was more in line with longer term trends: In 2008, Hispanics favored Obama over McCain 67%-31% In 2004, Hispanics favored Kerry over Bush 53%-44%. In 2000, Hispanics favored Gore over Bush 63%-35%. In 1996, Hispanics favored Clinton over Dole 72%-21%. In 1992, Hispanics favored Clinton over Bush 61%-25%.

So then his election wasn't because of his race, but because of his party affiliation and message?
-
Some people voted for him because they thought he was the best candidate.
-
I just thought it was interesting from a historical perspective. Calm down.

I'm not even really sure what to make of it, but thought it was interesting.

Any candidate who promises to abolish DMB will get my vote.

It's impossible for every viewpoint to be represented equally, and I don't know that it's even desirable for all viewpoints to be represented equally. But everyone has the right to vote for the person that they think either best represents their viewpoint or has the best chance of implementing policies that they find favorable.

The Democrats failed as an opposition party. No doubt about it. But that doesn't mean they'd do the same things if they were in charge.
