You might want to make sure in advance that any shows you are planning to go to aren't 21+

Early on they were saying that it was the name of the band. Later on they started saying that the band was unnamed. Supposedly they're going to make another album at some point, so I guess we'll find out for sure then.

I'm complete agreement. Wow. I suspect that of those guys we both would pick, Henderson is the only one who will actually get in, along with a questionable pick or two, like Rice.

Early attempt at my top 10: 1) Evangelicals - The Evening Descends 2) Tim Fite - Fair Ain't Fair 3) Blitzen Trapper - Furr 4) The Dodos - Visiter 5) Ratatat - LP3 6) Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes 7) Dianogah - Qhnnnl 8) Crystal Antlers - EP 9) Marnie Stern - This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That is That 10) David Byrne & Brian Eno - Everything That Happens Will Happen Today

I think it's because the Trojans are better football players. Notre Dame would have a lower graduation rate if their players expected to be drafted as highly as USC players often are.

So I guess it's time to ask: Freddy Garcia in the Hall of Fame?
-
Freddy Garcia hurt himself pitching in Venezuela. I wonder if he might be finished now.
-
Oh I didn't mean to imply that I thought that it was a bad trade. They should be looking long-term at this point, and so long as they use those draft picks well (which is not a given by any means, though perhaps more likely with someone other than Millen in charge), it was definitely the right move. But it made them worse right now than they were at the start of the year. That's all I was saying.

Yeah, the Lions were already among the worst teams this decade at the start of the season, and that was before they traded their best receiver, and before their already mediocre starting quarterback got hurt. It's pretty ugly.

I don't think that someone upset about Hillary's appointment is naive either, I just don't think they were misled. There are other reasons to be upset about it other than feeling misled about it.
-
I would have gone with "Are you a honky?"

They had a lot in common on foreign policy, just less than in other areas. On most issues they were identical or nearly so. On foreign policy they were similar, just less similar than on pretty much every other issue. That's all I'm sayin'. I'm disappointed with some of the appointments, but don't feel misled. I think a lot of people heard what they wanted to hear during the campaign (and that goes for a lot of Obama supporters as well as a lot of people who hate him). I don't think Obama was misleading at all. I was always under the impression that the "change" that he spoke of ha

I expected Hillary to be offered some high position, but it's still surprising that it's State, since foreign policy was the area where they disagreed most.

What kind of regular season is that where a winless team makes the playoffs?
-
Sure, but the NFL teams all have 22 NFL players in their starting line-ups. And all of their bench players are NFL players too!
-
Probably not.
-
I know it's not true, but it's fun to think about. Leave me alone. Without self-pity, us native Detroiters have nothing.
-
I truly believe that the Lions would lose to a couple of the top college teams.
-
That says Brenden Foster, not Brendan Fraser.
-
At some point there has to be some level of arbitrary picking of teams. But it just makes more sense to let 8 of them play it out rather than 2 of them. The more teams actually play, the lower the level of arbitrariness (is that a word?). You have to cut it off at some number for the sake of practicality, but that doesn't mean that some attempt shouldn't be made. The BCS is an improvement over the old system where voting decided everything, but a playoff would still be a huge improvement on that. Until this conversation on this thread, I wasn't aware that anyone other than the bowl spons

A golden parachute would look cool, but I wouldn't recommend using it. It would be awfully heavy.
-
Sure, the lesser team may win sometimes, but that's true in any sport, and it's at least more fair then picking who gets to play by a combination of voting and computer algorithms -- that's waaaaay more arbitrary. Otherwise, why play any games at all? Just give the award to the pre-season #1.

I understand that it's sometimes necessary. I just don't understand why necessary = worthy of multi-million dollar bonuses. If you need to go to the government for a bailout, and this applies to the financial sector as well as industry, then you have done a poor job of running your business and do not deserve a bonus. If your profits have fallen so severely that you have to layoff large segments of your workforce, then you've done a bad job and do not deserve a bonus. If you're being crushed by overseas competitors, then you're doing a bad job and do not deserve a bonus.

I doubt it, but I don't know and neither do you. So why not let them play against the Big 12 champ and then we can find out? I bet they would have a decent chance of going undefeated in the Big Ten, and if they did, then they'd probably be in the national championship game. And yes, the Big Ten is weak, but that's exactly my point -- teams are being judged based on the name of the conference they play in, and teams that are not from those 6 conferences are not even considered for the championship game no matter how good they are. Perhaps scheduling stronger non-conference games would mak
