Sure, but doesn't it blur the lines just a bit when the only reason that what they did is legal is because their lobbyists wrote the laws making it legal?

are you gay or sumthin'?

I was gonna say, lots of guys would hit that, they just wouldn't talk about it to their friends.

I dig it, and it's growing on me with each listen, but no way is it as good as either Blacklisted or Fox Confessor.

Eh, that's a huge oversimplification of what happened in New Orleans, bordering on being simply inaccurate.

Is he? Well that just ruins my whole joke.

Is Corey Smith really lost at sea, or do you all think he just can't stand the thought of playing another season with the Lions? Yes, I realize how tasteless it is to ask that.

I like Jim Bowden's claim that he's resigning not because he is guilty of anything, but because the scandal has created a distraction whereby he is no unable to effectively do his job. It's funny, because he's never been able to effectively do his job.

I saw them at the State Theater in Detroit in...must have been 2000? Not really sure. Great show though.

Man, I absolutely cannot believe that no one seems willing to take a flyer on Pedro Martinez. I mean, I'm sure he'll get a contract somewhere after the WBC, but it seems like someone would be willing to toss a million at him just in case he's still got something left.

Obama's big introduction to the nation was his speech at the 2004 DNC. That's earlier before the next election than this is. Worked out well for Obama.

Joe Borowski retired today.

I totally agree. He also seems to have not actually heard the speech, as he's responding to something completely different than what Obama actually said.

Eh, the context may justify the song choice, but it doesn't do anything for the poor performance.

Our defense could be bolstered considerably by pulling a ton of money out of the Pentagon and handing it over to the State department. Diplomacy can make us safer than bombs any day of the week. Certainly money needs to be spent on keeping the country safe and secure, but I think a lot of those in power have a rather limited scope of what sorts of things can make the country safer.

Extremely disappointing. I didn't really care what song they did, but it sucked for Meg to not even play drums. The first half of the song sounded really unrehearsed and just plain bad. It tightened up a bit at the end, but was still a pretty lame arrangement of the song. The Stripes on Conan have a long, great history and that was a pretty horrible ending to it.

I guess there is language in the bill allowing for state legislatures to override governors who refuse the money, so LA might get their money anyway if their legislature wants it.

Just got back from the early show at the Empty Bottle. Would have preferred the late one, but was too late to get tickets. Really good show, if short on older material. They played most of the new album, about half of WMN, 2 songs I didn't recognize, and I think that was it. I don't think there was anything from Field Rexx. Really tight though. I think they're too big for the venue at this point.

I don't think anyone has ever disputed that team chemistry can make some difference. The dispute lies with the extent to which it makes a difference.

Not really. I was on the Pudge-is-a-juicer schtick when he was still a Tiger. There isn't as much evidence for Maggs though. Again, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he did steroids, there just isn't as much evidence as there is for a lot of other guys.
-
The evidence for Maggs juicing isn't as strong as for Pudge, but at this point no one would surprise me.
-
Pudge has been all but confirmed as a juicer for a long time. On top of the circumstancial stuff Jorge mentioned, he was also named in the first Canseco book. I would be pretty shocked if he wasn't a juicer.

The first guy suspended for 'roid use was Alex Sanchez, who was using to become faster. I don't know of any studies on stolen bases. It would be tough to quantify anyway though, because, though steroids could have increased leg strength to make guys better stealers, they could also have improved the catcher's arm strength to make it easier for him to throw a guy out, as well as the pitcher's arm strength, so the ball was getting to home faster, giving the catcher another split second to throw the runner out. There are so many different factors that I don't even know what a study would look
