  1. Panther, I don't think Brown was using the term in the same way that you're always using it. It's simply not what he was talking about.
  2. I'm picking Cleveland due to some young stars and a weak division. I think you could reasonably pick almost any team to win the AL Central though, due to the fact that they're all pretty flawed teams. Wouldn't be surprised to see any of them finish in dead last either. I don't really know much of what went on the NL this off-season, but I'll make some predictions anyway. AL East Yankees Red Sox Rays Blue Jays Orioles AL Central Indians Twins Tigers Royals White Sox AL West A's Angels Mariners Rangers NL East Phillies Marlins Mets Braves Nationals AL Central Cubs Brewers Cardinals
  3. Still waiting on the annual Uncle Tupelo reunion prank thread.
  4. It wouldn't surprise me if he was still decent again now that he's healthy. That being said, I'm not at all sad to see him go.
  5. It's a stretch to say they sound nothing like Nirvana. They were an obvious influence. But also a huge stretch to call them a Nirvana rip-off. They share a lot of influences (namely the Pixies) and that results in some similarities between them.

  7. Not sure if there's already a thread for this. Saw some threads trying to form leagues, but not a straight up fantasy baseball discussion thread, so here it is. If there already is one, well then just merge them and leave me alone, I don't want to hear it. Just finished a draft and have one more tomorrow. Not sure why both my leagues ended up drafting a week early this year. Tomorrow is my standard 5x5 roto league. Today's was for my crazy ass 9x9 head-to-head ten-team keeper league. Stats are R, H, HR, RBI, SB, BB, TB, AVG and OPS on the offensive end, and GS, W, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP
  8. I love love love love love the Toadies. The two albums they made the first time around, Rubberneck and Hell Below/Stars Above are genuine post-grunge classics. Fantastic albums. The one they did last year was so-so. I've seen them live 3 times -- opening for RHCP in about '97 or so, headlining a club in '01, and at Lollapalooza last year, and all three kicked my ass. Better when Lisa was in the band than they are now, but still well worth seeing. Great yelly vocals, amazing guitar playing, pretty cool vibe to everything they do. Go see them.
  9. Lots of Piazza 'roid buzz lately.
  10. He's my least favorite player of all time, but as much as I want to, I can't put up the definitive argument against him. He's borderline, but I think probably falling on the side of getting in.

  13. You quoted me as acknowledging that Dodd is guilty of a whole lot of things and then piled on me as if I was defending him as being clean. But being guilty of one thing does not make him guilty of everything. He did something wrong but that doesn't mean it's fair to blame him for things that he is not responsible for. Get a grip and focus a bit, friend.
  14. Clemson had no one that could guard Manny Harris. That's really all the game came down to. Hail!
  15. I bet most brackets are like 70% the same as every other.
  16. Dodd is guilty of a whole lot of things, but he's being smeared in this case. He tried to keep that language out of the bill but ended up buckling under pressure from the Treasury Department, and then now the Treasury is saying that Dodd was the one who put it in there to begin with. It's a load of bull.
  17. Now that I know that Obama picked Clemson, I can no longer support him. He probably really is a secret muslim.
  18. Rejection of insane conspiracy theories is not necessarily a sign of close mindedness. I'm not happy with everything Obama has done, but that doesn't mean ever crazy thing you hear about him is true. There's a big leap there.
  19. Yeah, CEOs should be expected to do whatever it takes to make as much money as possible. Which is exactly why regulation is necessary; to keep them in check since they can't be expected to do it themselves.
  20. Guided by Voices X The White Stripes Mission of Burma The Stooges
  21. I had tickets for a Beastie Boys/Rage Against the Machine/At the Drive-In triple bill back in...must have been 2000? Got postponed because one of the Beasties fell off his bicycle or something, and then it got cancelled when Rage broke up.
  22. Oh yeah, it's gonna be at Ford Field. Forgot about that. So why not do it the next week instead? I bet a lot of those unemployed people would rather watch the Final Four on TV than Jay Leno in person anyway.
  23. It's not racist to have the show in Auburn Hills, but it is pretty dumb. He couldn't do this at JLA or something?
