  1. Sigh. (Edit: Hook a sister up?) Still, there were some decent songs on Because of the Times, so maybe the new one won't be all bad.
  2. I absolutely love Youth and Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak. Because of the Times was a big letdown for me...I'm hoping the new one is a return to form.
  3. Speaking of which: attorneys and law students, help out! http://my.barackobama.com/page/s/vpcvol2
  4. kwall, if you're looking for an example, here's part one of a 6-part interview with Tim Russert on Meet the Press back in November 2007. He has appeared on that show alone 3 or 4 times (that I know of), and this week in particular he sat down with George Stephanopoulos and Bill O'Reilly. Those are just some "one-on-ones" that I can think of off the top of my head...god knows how many he's done since he threw his hat into the presidential race ring.
  5. That's some bullshit right there. We've got ourselves an emergency situation in Kentucky. Go get 'em, Beshear!
  6. Word on the street in KY is that gas will shoot up to around $5/gallon by tomorrow...in parts of western KY, it's already at $4.69. I had to wait in line for awhile at the pump on my way home from work, and apparently quite a few stations have run out. Thanks, Ike.
  7. I was in college in London, in my Politics of the Middle East class. A difficult day for that professor, for sure. When class started, we didn't really know what was going on, just heard some rumors from other students. It wasn't until I had to take the train back home that I really understood the magnitude of what was happening...signs in all the Underground stations saying that all flights to the US were grounded. I'll never forget standing in Victoria station with hundreds of people just staring in shock at the giant tv screens, showing the towers burning (pre-collapse). I've never fel
  8. A friend of mine gave a pretty good summary of this whole thing, via an email today, which some of you might find interesting: "For anyone who wants to see the whole bill (including the recommended deletions and additions), it's here. Note that an amendment was offered after the initial vote that included leaving the minimum grade at 6 and inserting the "age appropriate" language in the section of the bill that everyone has been discussing. The only place the age appropriate qualifier appeared in the original is in a section amending the Comprehensive Health Education Program (which I thin
  9. While it's true that a lot of his community work relied on the involvement of churches, you're kinda painting it in an inaccurate light. When Obama arrived in Chicago to start his job, that was just the way it worked; churches provided the means through which people could band together and get things done. It's not as if Obama swept in and decided that he must get the church involved. Here's a passage from Dreams From My Father, a quote which Obama attributes to the man who hired him as a community organizer...he explains to Obama how they operated:
  10. If you're interested in some Jeff solo shows, there are really great soundboard recordings of 3/4/05 and 3/5/05.
  11. I missed this...hope your birthday was great!!
  12. I'm going to be in Florida the week of his Columbus, Indy, and Cincinnati shows. More dates, please!!
  13. I'm pretty sure they played every song off In Rainbows at Lollapalooza this year, but not in order.
  14. Yeah, I thought you were referring to bands performing an album live, start to finish. I've only witnessed that once, and was lucky enough for it to be the White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan, on 8/31/05 at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago.
