^ That cover illustration was a blast from the past. Right now I'm trudging through: but I'm paying a lot more attention to:

Wow, that's a lot of material. I wonder how much of it is music and how much is the Beatles fighting with each other.

Ale 8 sucks. Sorry, Kentucky. I loved that back in the day too (especially the cream soda one). My excuse is that I was trying to be like my older sister, who drank it all the time.

Sign me up. I'm not too good to go on a Greyhound in the sky. -
What's some of your favorite road trips you have been on?

Oh man, for some reason I was only thinking about road trips in the US. Another one of my all-time favorite trips was a road trip through the UK...started in London and went to York, Edinburgh, Inverness, Isle of Skye, Glasgow, Keswick, Liverpool, and back to London. -

I'm dying to do a Badlands -> Yellowstone trip someday (I've been to Yellowstone, but not SD). Some of my favorite roadtrips: Charleston, WV to New Orleans with extended family in tow...memorable stops in Lexington, Memphis, and Huntsville along the way (If trains count), Oakland to Seattle was fun and beautiful At the end of that trip ^, a drive from Vancouver to Salt Lake City including Washington state, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming -
I'll be at a cabin in Burnside, KY with 6 friends. There will be eating, drinking and cavorting until the wee hours.

Who knew I could become obsessed with reading up on local co-ops, farmers markets and CSAs.

Happy birthday, Edie!!

I caught the end of their set at Lollapalooza this year, and they were great. I wish I had seen more!

I hope this birthday is at least a 9.7!!

Awesome thread. My great-great-great grandfather, Andrew Jackson Songer, fought for the Confederacy (unwillingly maybe, as his obituary linked below suggests). His arm was shattered at Petersburg, but fortunately he pulled through...Andrew Jackson begat John Tosh who begat Charles Eugene who begat another Charles Eugene who begat Victoria Anne, who is my mom. The obit is an interesting read.

Well, I just got home from seeing them in Louisville, and holy shit what a show. :wub I got to talk to the Tallest Man on Earth afterwards and thanked him for a great show and the kick-ass version of Death Letter. He was so gracious and sweet...what a pleasure. Bon Iver was amazing...hearing the songs off "For Emma" live really got to me, in a good way. I picked up the new EP and I can't wait to check it out...Blood Bank and Beach Baby sounded awesome.
