  1. I liked her in The People vs. Larry Flynt.
  2. Disgusting and deeply disturbing...but something all Americans should watch.
  3. I don't post in the ND thread because I'm intimidated by all you beer aficionados. I tend to stick with Heineken and Stella Artois, with a few Bud Lights thrown in from time to time.
  4. I finished reading last week, and I'm sorry for not chiming in sooner! I have to admit, I enjoyed the book but definitely didn't LOVE it. I never really had an emotional connection with any of the characters. I apologize in advance for my disjointed, stream-of-consciousness comments. Anyway, I agree with what has been said so far about the fuku (personified by the man with no face) and the mongoose (as good luck). What stood out for me were the relationships; each woman ended up with men who showed them no respect (except maybe La Inca, whose marital relationship wasn't really fleshed o
  5. I'm so excited...last time Bon Iver came to Kentucky (Covington, I think), we had a big snowstorm and I was too scared to venture out. Total bummer. I need to check out Tallest Man on Earth before next month! I had been meaning to, anyway.
  6. There's experience and then there's capability, and the latter is a much bigger problem for Palin.
  7. I just finished this and can't wait to hear all of your thoughts!
  8. I don't disagree with any of this. In fact, my original post was in no way saying your sentiments were wrong; just that I can understand (and appreciate) the media's coverage of the race aspect of this election.
  9. Seriously? Wasn't there an Elvis concert years ago using a hologram, or did I dream that?
  10. Calm down. I just think we would be remiss not to acknowledge the historical significance of this election, along with the impressive (IMO) character and qualifications that Obama the candidate has shown.
  11. I understand that was your point (and I certainly voted for him because he was a better candidate), but El Famous is bemoaning all the discussion of race in the media. I think it's unrealistic to expect the media to gloss over the fact that he's black, when to me it's kinda obvious why it's a big deal.
  12. It's a pretty big deal for a black man to be elected president, when less than 50 years ago we were dealing with... I don't think there's anything wrong with the media covering the fact that it's a monumental moment for African-Americans.
  13. CNN and MSNBC have called it for McCain. Still waiting for NC, though.
  14. I'm totally on an Obama high right now. Good work, everybody. :wub
  15. I'm going to a party hosted by some friends, and I just finished my contribution!
