  3. For the past 10 years or so, I have been downloading ringtones that I associate with various family and friends. When I got the HTC Hero for my b-day, I had to redownload ringtones. For the last 7 or so years, I have been using DMX's Party Up as a ringtone for my daughter: "Ya'll gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here". Well...I am an old white guy. I had never heard DMX's Party Up beyond the aforementioned lyric hook. I went looking for it today and found a ringtone of Party Up. Those of you who are familiar with the song may know where this is going. Needless to say, I cho

  5. I think it is time for both of these guys to do covers or standards albums....for what its worth...(which was a good song in its day....) LouieB the thing that really bothers me about Springsteen's prolific recording and releasing material now is that he doesn't really have the muse that he did in the 70's and 80's. I wish he would have exercised less self-editing then and more now.
  6. I am NOT kidding...it was in a twee, indie pop music column in an Austin free newspaper. I laughed.
  7. One really good thing about getting old: I don't care what other people think very much. Internet pundits are no better than the mainstream media in their rush to build people up and to revel in tearing them dowwn. I've read how Bruce Springsteen saved Rock and Roll; read that the Clash was the only band that mattered; that Cake was going to change the music world; how Kurt Cobain was a rock god; read that Oasis was the best British band ever; read that Funeral was the best album of the last 20 years. It's all sound and fury and usually says more about the writer than the facts or the reader.
  8. I'm guessing Jerry Rice had not written or even seen the speech prior through his stumbling through reading it. Painful delivery and almost devoid of any emotion outside the sniffling.

  12. One time recently, out of the 12 songs that I listened to in a session, I had 5 Bruce Springsteen and 5 Radiohead tracks
  13. Isn't that some great stuff? That's what THE BASEMENT TAPES should have been instead of the self-promoting garbage that Robbie Robertson had a hand in.
  14. John Daniels has really grown up in the job at Texas. After a few really stinky trades in his early years, the guy has learned how to GM. The Teixeira trade was the turning point. Getting Andrus and Feziz would have been just fine. Beau Jones is still just 23, Matt Harrison is contributing and Saltalamaccia has been turned for prospects. Not to mention getting Cliff Lee for prospects. Smoak may or may not be anything in the future,(he certainly has struggled in his big league time). Blake Bevan has a really good arm. Mark Lowe has health and injury issues, Josh Leuke may have some characte

  17. Maybe it's due to a nostalgia trip...but music doesn't really get better than this:
  18. So...you really liked Dreamscape and thought Inception was "ponderous and stupid"? Really?
