A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe
Sweet Papa Crimbo replied to hardwood floor's topic in Someone Else's Song
You want musical blashphemy...I got your musical blasphemy. Leonard Cohen...meh. He's written two songs that don't make me extremely bored. Bruce Springsteen is one of the most important artists of the rock era, but he is becoming a Caricature the artist he once was. Patterson Hood's affected southern twang is beginning to grate on my nerves. That being said, Back of a Bible is one of the best songs ever written. Wayne Coyne (theFlaming Lips)ran out of coherent musical ideas and started being a novelty act after The Soft Bulletin. The Grateful Dead are really boring and owe their su -

What do you mean? Why they don't play it much? -
I agree with the sentiment about the 'dirty soul' record. Songs along the lines of Side With Seeds (really soulful in my mind) and The Thanks I get. (I would bet that those two songs spawned Jeff's comments about a "Dirty Soul Record". Searching for a description that everybody has a connection to in order to describe the indescrible). p.s.---There are no 'super fans'...or so I've been told

Signs You May Be A Hipster You have paid more than $100 for used shoes. You are 28 years old and still embarrassed to be seen out at dinner with your parents. You stopped listening to your favorite band because your Abercrombie-wearing cousin told you he likes their new single. You have on occasion said you never watch TV, but you know exactly how many times and under what circumstances Rachel and Ross broke up and got back together. You also know where this season’s Real World was shot. You throw the devil sign in photos—even at weddings… especially at weddings. You started a ba

I don't have problems with bands allowing their songs to be used in commercials. Joe Jackson Ray Lamontaigne The Clash Bob Dylan Wilco Feist The Flaming Lips Bands can't get played on the radio anymore...why not commercials? -
This would have made a great swan song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7w0yvQN0cg

FM Radio is obsolete...CDs are obsolete...vinyl records were obsolete, then they were cool again, now they're headed for obsolence atagi...people actually playing guitars and keyboards are obsolete...I don't think I'm digging the modern world much anymore.

And Keith Urban plays pretty well too. So does Kenny Chesney. My point is the you take the Cowboy hats off and get rid of the affected 'country' vocals, replace the 'fiddles' with keyboards and you have 80's arena rock. "Someone Else's Song", "Forget The Flowers", "Far, Far Away"...Country songs? Traditional songs? Good Songs that won't get played on the radio. I guess I am of an age where I want good music by good bands to get played on the fucking radio. An album of Jeff Tweedy singing 'country' songs would be amazing. In MY opinion, every record Wilco has released has been amazing in it

Wilco isn't even getting airplay on the new Dallas Public Radio Music station. A full fucking week and only one Wilco song. Son Volt...Farrar and Gibbard...Alejandro Escovedo...Fleet Foxes...MoF...other cool stuff. But only one Wilco...and it's You and I. But Tweedy's pictue is on the Home Page. I just don't get why critics and music industry people claim to love Wilco but they don't get any love from any sort of media.
