Bummed out too, though not terribly surprised. Not surrpised there isn't much love for them on this board either. SA have been flying under everyone's radars the last decade or so, but they have been productive - playing 25-30 shows a year, and introducing new tunes to the setlist even though album releases were few and far between. The Silver Lining (2006) was great. This year's album Delayed Reaction was so-so, 3 great tunes, some old nuggets, and a few I could do without. I guess Dan felt he'd accomplished all he could with them after 30 years.
In a one month span this summer I saw Wilco 4 times and SA three times. All were great shows, but if I had to pick one band or the other on any given night, it would be SA.
Productive...sounds like semi-retirement.

ummm...don't want to sound snarky, but I didn't even know they were still together.

How do you know this? Were you on the field? It is a verbal call until the ball hits the ground.
Arm in the air.
Plus...it was 40' into the outfield...thereby not AND INFIELD FLY.

This my Fifth Presidential election with online access.
I'm thinking I'm going to become a hermit before the sixth.

Yoko is really harming John's legacy by releasing these letters that show the bitter, petty, nasty side of John. He overcame a lot of his anger and was making amends at the end of his life.

Hamilton's gone. I hope JD moves Young no matter what, even if that means having to eat a large part of his salary. No idea about Napoli, but I can see Texas re-signing him as long as the price doesn't get too high. I doubt Wash is going anywhere. The big question is what to do about Profar. I love Elvis and would love to see the two of them up the middle. Of course, that would mean moving Kins to the outfield where he would be overpaid for the numbers he put up this year.
I think Wash hamstrung himself by thinking he had to play Michael Young, the worst everyday player in baseball this year (or, at least, close to it). That's why he needs to be moved. I don't remember what the bullpen situation looks like. I know Nathan signed a two-year deal before this season and I would imagine Koji and Ogando will be back (can't remember Adams's status).
Rotation will have Yu, Harrison, and Holland. Colby Lewis will be there whenever he's healthy enough. Not sure when Feliz will be back.
I know a lot of the talk has been around acquiring Justin Upton. Not sure what the price would be for that, especially considering his favorable contract. Should be an interesting winter.
Adams is a free agent and going to undergo that thorassic impengment surgery. I'm not sure Lewis will be available at all next year.
I think everybody except Wash and Young think it is time for Young to ply his craft elsewhere.

In high school, every time I found a b-side or import from The Cult it was as good as getting to do something we're not allowed to talk about on this site.

There is turmoil and angst in Big D.
The epic collaspe will undoubtedly see the departure of Hamilton and Napoli. There are now some rumblings about Washington having shot his wad (gambling term) and the possibility that a new manager might be needed.
Not sure if I am ready to write off Wash, but some of his in game decisions are dicey.

I realized this morning as I was driving down to Charlottesville that I somehow confused ELO for T. Rex. Whoops.
If I were you, I might consider deleting the evidence.

There are opinions. And then sometimes, you're just wrong, inconsiderate, and naive.
I'm SURE this will be seen again.

Was a really nice run for the Rangers. Three straight playoff appearances, two Wold Series. This was a team that would be eliminated in early September in years past
They will have a LOT of retooling to do next year.
Hamilton and Napoli are probably gone
Adams is a free agent.
Lewis and Feliz won't be ready...Dempster was a rent-a-player. Oswalt was a stop-gap.
It was painful watching Michael Young struggle at the plate and in the field...he's got to be gone.
The Young guys had better be ready to step up...they will need to find a fourth and fifth pitcher out of Perez, Grimm, Kirkman and Scheppers. These are the only ones that appear to be close.
Olt and Profar should be competing for a big league slot and it's time for Martin to step up.
Looks like the Rangers are back to competing for third place in the West...
If Profar is ready...then trade Adrus for either a pitcher or an outfielder.

— The Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
— Chic.
— Deep Purple.
— Heart.
— Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
— Albert King.
— Kraftwerk.
— The Marvelettes.
— The Meters.
— Randy Newman.
— N.W.A.
— Procul Harum.
— Public Enemy.
— Donna Summer.
— Rush.
If not even one of the bold make it in before or at the same time as Rush does, I will be largely disappointed with Rush's fan base as I already see just by looking online. There are opinions. And then sometimes, you're just wrong, inconsiderate, and naive.
I note that not ONE of the bolded selections could even remotely be considered Rock.
I'm sure Donna Summer will make it in...she's dead and Jann Wenner bats for the team now.
-
t. rex is absolutely r&rhof worthy. glam rock and psych folk might not be the most prominent genres in music these days, but bolan paved the way for both of them. if they were gonna get in it probably would have happened already, but you could make a great case that they belong.
uncle tupelo? no way. the scene they helped spawn is still a niche market, and their overall influence on rock music is minimal at best.
i think wilco is even less likely, though with their status rising with each record you never know.
Bolan gets in when KISS and Rush get in.
And that would be after Jann Wenner dies

The Rangers bats are as dead as Generalissimo Francisoc Franco.
Napoli, Soto, Young and Cruz are a slow death in the middle of the line up
It's hard to belive that this is the same team from April and May

I thought I understood the infield fly rule but now I'm not so sure.
Problem is it wasn't an infield fly and the ump didn't call it until after the ball had hit the ground.
Looks like the fix was in...
-
The Jam or T-Rex are mopey? huh...
No...but they don't belong the the RnRHOF.
Can you tell the story of the music without mentioning them? YES.

Have to think if Keith was sober and clean, he would have never have left Mick push Mick T. out of the band.

Better and clearer mix than the one that appeared on IT'S ONLY ROCK 'N' ROLL...

I know exactly what you mean. Politics are never going to be pretty, but I do give Obama credit for trying to behave in a respectful and gracious manner. It must be a real effort sometimes, with what's at stake.
Respectful and bewildered tone Wednesday night...mocking tone Thursday. All hail the return of the teleprompter.

I don't really care about this stuff anymore (I have a lot of stuff on my mind), but I must admit I wonder what the Obama camp would be saying if the tables were turned last night.

A little harsh, but certainly a defendable position.
I prefer to think of him as a bitter, angry and narcissistic man who was trying his best at the end of his life to do and be better.
