  1. i'm not traveling to see them because of the setlists. i know it would be fun, but i also know that i'd get bored with 20 min. neil jam. that's like playing ARC every night. now a 20 min. jerry garcia jam...that's another story:-)

You have me blocked or something?

  3. Although he started a couple years later I would add Tom Waits. Wait's recent output has been storming, superior to any other oldie out there..even old Bob.

The generational comparison for Tom Waits is Bruce Springsteen. The Stones were already Rock Gods when Tom was still doing the non-growling voice songs.

  4. I go back and forth between Beggars and Let it Bleed (though Between the Buttons and Their Satanic Majesties Request are the ones I listen to the most). Everything through Exile is golden. But I must confess I have never had much interest in listening to their post-72 stuff with the exception of Some Girls and a few tracks here and there.

Goats Head Soup is actually not a bad record at all. The production is a tad spotty, but the performances are really strong and there are some real gems on there. Keith was riffing and Mick T. was soaring. I used to really slag off on it, but time and tide have afforded me a perspective that allows me to appreciate this record more..

However, It's Only Rock 'N Roll is the absolute nadir...until you get to BLACK AND BLUE.

  5. Not trying to be a shock jock - I think it's dickish thing to say when someone is trying quit a bad habit. Hamilton battles addiction everyday, anyway. He wanted to quit another addiction, good for him. Being a dick is one of Ryan charming qualities.

Hamilton is a big, dumb child.

If he was so intent of being obedient to God, well, quit the dip after LAST season. The distraction and his mid season slide were avoidable with a little forethought.

He is a magnificent talent, but he can be such a distraction. He is proving to be brittle after years of abusing his body. Deep down, although I would love to see him in the middle of that lineup for years to come, I think the team might be better off without him. Now Wash and JD won't have to worry about those 3am calls with Josh getting loaded in a bar somewhere.

  6. I remember reading about them in the Guitar geek rags that I used to subscribe to when I was a young, aspiring guitar player.

Weren't they sort of a poor-man's Rush? Not a knock on them because, for that type of thing, Rush are really in a league of their own.

    More like a poor-man's Genesis.
