help my friend win avett brothers tickets on Facebook?

A big smile from Crow here. Sometimes, people can be pretty fucking cool. -
...but Jay went ahead and toured Europe with Jeff. Low self-esteem.

Seriously though...embarrassment is part of playing on the interwebs. Plus...it's sweet

Mermaid Ave III - Anyone seen this?

Maybe because the additional material features duets between Billy and Natalie Merchant... -

For a friend of the long time member of the community, it wasn't inconvenient to begin with. -
It's not just the reverb, but the way the acoustic guitars are mic'ed. I am enjoying this quite a bit more than I thought I would

I genuinely believe that the band does care for their fans. Wilco (the Song), may be a bit tongue in cheek, I believe it does contain sincere sentiment. (But then again...so does Misunderstood )

Nice stuff from ACL. Jeff doesn't look particularly happy here...

After 10 years with the little musical combo we like to refer to as "Wilco...the greatest band in the world" (the we being D-man and me), I think it is time to reflect on something I distinctly remember reading some dismissive articles about Mr. Kotche back in the early days of the release of YHF. I wish I could remember the publication I read this in (so I could impart the proper level of deserved ridicule), but I distinctly remember some writer portraying Glenn as some yahoo that Jeff pulled off the street. I remember him being referred to in a dismissive fashion citing his teaching drummi

Had this in the headphones while waiting for the pain meds to work today...there is some really cool shit going on the production end of these songs...

Wilco - The Whole Love voted #5 album of the year (great write up)

I never really put it down to this...but thinking about it... it is Jeff's show. There is collaboration, there are immensely important contributions...but after all is said and done, it is Jeff's vision. -
This is so oddly cool. Almost as odd as the Bing Crosby/David Bowie cover of Little Drummer Boy. The expressions on Neil's and David's faces are priceless. They are shocked and tickled to death Tom Jones can lay it down. Does prove one thing though. Strip away the glitzy, 60's Steve Lawrence vibe and Tom Jones can SING. Put him with a band like the Faces...MoFo could throw down!

It may have been done before, but it is always useful and interesting to know how others came to find the band. I had never heard anything by Uncle Tupelo. I had seen the cd's in the bin and had read the raves about the band in Rolling Stone, but I had been burned with the flavor of the month bands before. I was in my 30's and had young children to concern myself with, so music was taking a background noise place in my life. I had been an avid follower of all thing music. My dad had owned a small radio station (Pre-deregulation) and I had always had unlimited exposure to music. Managed to se

I've never really been such a music snob that I have felt the need to ridicule somebody for a band or singer they like to listen to...unless it was J-lo. Or Creed. I would think music insiders would appreciate the complexities and textures of Wilco's music. Lyrically and performance related. Nuance and subtlety is something that is rare in today's world.

Your top 10 favorite artist/bands...with a slight twist

I used to really, really not like Dreamer in my dreams and Kingpin. After being exposed to them live, I finally got it. There are some bands that click for folks...Wilco is one that has clicked for me. Maybe I discovered them at a point in my life where I knew what I liked. -
Oft times the issue is with the reviewer/poster, not that which is being reviewed/posted about.

Not everybody will like everything. It's not a competition. Personally, I care nothing for Phish or the Dead. They just don't do anything for me. I don't begrudge your appreciation of them and I expect you to extend the same courtesy. -

Your top 10 favorite artist/bands...with a slight twist

The problem with these type of lists is that I always have things pop into my mind after I've spent 30 minutes putting the initial list together. Like... REM (1983-1992 - 100%, 1994-1996 - 80%, 1996-the present - doesn't register for me as I have never listened to any of the newer records) --- If REM had packed in in after AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE, they would have been the best band of all time, in my opinion. MONSTER always seem forced and NEW ADVENTURES IN HI-FI always made me melancholy because it was the end of the band as they always proclaimed it (the old "if one of us quits, the band -

Not in any particular or notable order. Wilco (95% +/-) --- After having discovered this band shortly after AM was released, Ihave been increasingly obsessed with all things Wilco. I had never listened to Uncle Tupleo, so I didn't come to the table with any baggage. Even with all the stylistic and personnel changes, Tweedy has consistently made music that speaks to me. There are some things that don't work as well as others, but I have completely bought into Jeff Tweedy's musical vision. Radiohead (90%) --- IRDB nailed the Radiohead fan experience (This is how being a Radiohead fan goes: F -
Isn't it interesting that we assume Sarah's co-worker is a guy. I caught myself doing it and did the he/she thing. Either way, I think bleedorange might be on the right track.
