  1. well, that was 'deal' man. it really didn't matter what tune the band played, they were all good. it always warmed my heart that a rarity like Dire Wolf in the final years would get as much cheering as Minglewood.
  2. I do want to see Kimock, though I'd love to see Jonathan Wilson with Ratdog. That dude can really play, when he lets himself. Ratdog is just so...damn...slow... right.
  3. Rich is a rift master. One after the other!!
  4. Love Miranda Lee Richards. Her last album was so great. Not much new music blows me away and hers did. She's supposedly got a new one on the horizon.
  5. Gib Droll is still around? Jump Little Children too? I saw God Street Wine a few times in the 90s. Their studio albums were horrible, but live, they were great. That live album they put out in 93 with Drive West and Imogen is classic.
  6. Agreed, though I do like CRB. I do think it's ridiculous Chirs is playing Wolf. Really? He's not even a lead player. I also love the Cabin Fever era Crowes. That's my thing man...love early LA country rock pre-Eagles.
  7. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/furthur-paradise-waits stream of tonight's furthur show. i'm bummed they're taking this year off. i'm actually in the mood to see them and think they've really gotten so good. JK fits right in. i can't imagine why they'd not do at least one tour this year. is ratdog or phil and friends really more satisfying? i'd think that being in a seasoned band, at least at their age, would be the funnest and easiest thing to do. i'm thinking about going to ratdog in atlanta. i know i'll probably regret it by the second song :-) i never heard that! crazy! i lo
  8. I could work with that... Hell Is Chrome Shouldn't Be Ashamed Kamera Either Way Side With Seeds Sunloathe Muzzle of Bees
  9. i really enjoyed the CRB albums. the boards sound great, of course, but they really don't/can't jam. it's just kind of a hot mess to my ears. neal definitely fits and i love his sound, but he really can't sustain a long Viola jamwhy isn't betty mastering/mixing some Furthur stuff? how about a live comp of their originals recorded at TRI or something? (btw, i know there's bad blood there).
  10. Really? they've been remastered and re-released at least twice since the initial run the late 80s. i hate to say it, but i think this new set of releases will be brickwalled to hell and back and the unreleased stuff will be received with a yawn. the last round of remasters i remember jimmy saying there's nothing in the vaults. no unreleased tracks or anything.
  11. it is too bad these artists, like neil pretty much abandon new efforts to play the hits. there are a lot of great songs on his albums since 1989. and, as a huge fan, i'd much rather hear a career spanning set rather than Old Man and Heart of Gold. I'm sure he'd mix it up a bit if the tour was longer. I'm just happy he's back in acoustic mode. i'd love to see him to a totally acoustic album of originals. i'm sure he's got it in him. i guess the next release will be this rumored covers album.
  12. I love the artwork. The track that's been released is mid tempo and quite subtle. More of an in studio feel like Go Go Boots.
  13. I remember that too. There was a montage of dead rockers if I remember. Incidentally, I haven't seen the band since early 00s. I'm really not a fan of Derek. I mean, the guy demands respect, but he's almost too good. Does that make any sense. There's no build up with his solos either. It's not intentional, it's just that every damn lick the guy plays is stunning. It's like I get desensitized or something. I really miss Dickey. So melodic and as a fanboy of Garcia I love.
  14. I never know about Gregg's feelings on the Dead. I remember them doing Franklin's in the 90s. Also Saint Stephen, right?
  15. Really? As for early 90s ABB, so so great. Saw them a lot in those years. Wouldn't miss a show. Back Where It all Begins is a great album and holds up. Dickey, Warren and Woody!
  16. Right, the in-ear monitors totally were part of the problem. Now, that 5/26 Playin' is ridiculous. 6/23 was a great show all around. I saw most of that summer tour. 9/13/93 is also incredible. The predrums is probably the last great set the band ever played. Everything was played correctly as well as jammed out. Garcia hit every change in each song. That's not even mention the song list. I mean, are you kidding me?! This show will probably get released officially some day. I remember hearing by word of mouth how awesome this show was only days after. Before the internet really caug
  17. i decided to check out some '93 shows over the last few days. started at the beginning. interestingly they did a run in oakland in both january and february of 93. lucky west coast heads. the sbds are interesting, but just so sterile. it's almost like the band is not really playing together, but random parts tacked together. everyone is a little off. no one is really playing badly. garcia is singing well and playing pretty good. nothing amazing, but not fucking up. just slow. vince is just all over the place. i put up with him seeing the band live, but he just doesn't fit. of cour
  18. ah, missed it. of course i knew i had to pay :-) i wish they'd put the pure jerry stuff up for download. incidentally, this bob/jerry set sounds like it's one of the best they've put out. as others have said, the pure jerry and garcia live sets have been touch and go. i still love that gacia band live release from 91 so much. just perfect!
  19. i can't seem to find any download availability on jerry's site...?
  20. I think I'm going to spring for this too. I really liked that Bob/Rob disc that came out in the late 90s. I really like Victim and, on the whole, being able to just hear Bobby.
  21. cool. thanks for the reply. that seems like it could easily involve long hours.
  22. Oh, that shit goes on all the time. It's regular business. the revolution to end this irrational economic system we live in. where do you work man? what profession? just curious.
  23. Capitalism at it's best. Why we're all not rioting in the streets I do not know. I feel for you buddy. I busted ass in grad school 2.5 times trying to get that dream job. Alas, that dream job involves no work and no co-workers. :-)
  24. interesting you posted this today. spotify is in the news. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57615238-93/spotify-sets-mobile-music-free-what-took-so-long/ now it's basically totally free on mobile devices as it has been on desktops. i actually cannot stand it. it makes me nuts. too much to choose from and i find myself constantly thinking of other stuff i want to listen to rather than just listening to an album. for example, i decide i want to listen to some zeppelin, so i pull up an album. 2 minutes in i decide i absolutely must explore plant's solo catalog and before i know it i'
