  1. right. also, she was writing tunes for others which she didn't feel like performing. the solomon burke tune Valley of Tears is one. i'd love to hear her play that as well as New Favorite, the one she wrote for allison Krauss.
  2. probably no reunion. i've heard gilmour say he doesn't want to tour anymore. however, i'm sure we'll get something from them. i'd like to see roger guest on a waters solo record. i really can't see them working together. roger was such a prick in the studio. he'll probably tour the wall for a few years and then settle in vegas. my dream would be to see roger and david get their shit together and play some residencies doing some rare floyd stuff like then entire animals album, the complete shine on, and meddle. set the controls and careful with the axe as encores! c
  3. during the press for dave's album gillian was asked why so long between albums. she said it was because the songs she was writing/written weren't cohesive to put together on an album. i can respect that. at the same time, an EP or something would've been nice. i know they were playing 'new tunes' on the soul journey tours and that there has been pressing saying she was in the studio for several years now. i do remember hearing that this might be a double album. that would be cool.
  4. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! god damn it's been too long. have followed her since the beginning, she is tied with neil young with my favorite artist of all time and i am so excited she's putting out a new album. this is why i check VC all the time, folks here got their pulse on stuff i'm interested. thanks for posting. btw-she is amazing live!
  5. i thought that album for emma just came out this year?
  6. at least wilco has the extra stuff for download on the website for those who bought the album. interesting they haven't done this for the last one given that they did it from YHF on.
  7. right it was recorded at jay's studio. cool. i'll give a review after i listen to it a while.
  8. will check this out. doing some research on will and he played drums with son volt in 2007. pretty cool. also, wasn't there news that he was involved with a mermaid ave type thing with jay farrar? hope that sees the light of day. as far as albums, i'm gonna start with Navigational. i love that tune Numbers One and Three.
  9. yeah, it's like the dude is almost too good. great riffs, lyrics, and production. he also some how throws memorable hooks in there too. definitely a guy who has figured out how to grow as an artist and not totally change his art. (if that makes any sense
  10. animals and wish you were here are two of my all time favorite albums. shine on and dogs are so awesome!! i don't need remastered/compressed versions though. i'm fine with my initial reissues from the late 80s. i also like final cut.
  11. he's got so much shit out there! however, it seems like he releases everything, which is good for us. the forum on his site is nice too.
  12. i'm with you all the way. the middle brother album is good for small doses of deer tick man. great lyrics. genius
  13. def check it out. it has really helped me get into it. i've found several tunes that resonate with me so i'm gonna check those albums out. i just love his guitar sound and warm production. the voice is growing on me and the lyrics are at times validating and other times mysterious, but always original and interesting. looking forward to seeing them in june. also interested in checking out that album will did with jason molina.
  14. Talk has a few great tunes, The Calling being one of them. i've never been able to get into that ABWH stuff. it seems that after 90125 everything they did got progressively more sketchy. they did have a few singles along the way. anyway, the new album is called Fly From Here and is coming out in July. i think i'm going to go see them with styx.. i know jon anderson is not with them, but geoff downs is...so it's kind of like a drama reunion tour. i'm really looking forward to hearing some drama tunes live.
  15. candyman, stagger lee, riders, etc. they all show up in Hunter's work as well as studied folk musicians from the last century. great stuff.
  16. i love will's painting too, but all i can find is baseball players:)
  17. i've heard a bit of fort recovery. it's the voice for me too, but damn the production, instrumentations, tunes, lyrics all are right up my alley. he is touring in june and he's coming to atlanta, so hopefully i'll see him.
  18. http://www.centro-matic.com/ i've been wanting to get into this dude for years. i recently went to their website and they have a free 24 track sampler for newbies. pretty cool! i've been enjoying it and will def be picking up some albums in the near future. what to start with though? the guy is so damn prolific. i guess they have a new album coming out in June. anyway, thought some folks would be interested. c
  19. that dude has had a hell of a life. looking forward to the new record.
  20. y'all have inspired me to give it a few more spins.
  21. glad you like it. i'm still convinced it's and elaborate april fool's joke. they took the worst aspects of all the overproduced music we love to hate from the last 25 years and used that as the foundation of their sound. i'm so confused.
  22. http://www.thefelicebrothers.com/ you can stream the first single in their website. the tune was posted on april 1. i just listened to it and i have to believe it was an april fools joke. it is just horrible. i'm in shock over how bad this is.
  23. i agree with this. couldn't get into the first one. was going to go and buy the new one today, but decided to listen again. meh.
