  1. i would love to be a high school psych teacher! anyway, i've never really understood emo...like what it sounds like. i know some sort of hand bag is involved, right?
  2. that is odd. btw, i'm sure we've walked past each other at Target
  3. thanks for posting. what a bunch of cheeze balls! love it! nice restrained guitar solos from neil.
  4. looks like a fun album. of course, several unreleased tunes from that era are missing.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAK7kpbh4Qc&feature=related this is probably my favorite new earth mud song. great live version here.
  6. you know what, i think i posted it here and now it's gone! or maybe i thought i posted it and didn't. anyway, it was a press release type video for the album A Treasure which is a live album from the international harvesters era. it had the setlist, cover art, live footage, etc.
  7. went to jayhawks last night. they were GREAT! they played two new tunes and the rest was off TTGG and HTH. i just love seeing mark standing in the middle just strumming his guitar. the only drawback was it was an amphitheater which had questionable sound. also, they were second of three acts. Band of Horses were last. they were very entertaining and just a well-oiled machine. anyway, the new tunes sounded good and gary mentioned that the new album would be out in august and that a tour would follow. i hope it's smaller venues like wilco plays. oh, and as i was going up to get
  8. evidently that video was not supposed to posted. although it was on the official neil young youtube channel. anyway, the neil insider who posts on the rust list posted a cease and desist and threatened that the Treasure album may not be released because of this debacle. drama drama. and, who cares? there some good responses from folks about all the neil young BS through the years...this and ticket prices being only two.
  9. always been aware of can but never gave an attentive listen. very nice. i like the space between the instruments.
  10. that photo on the link i posted initially shows horn as not aging too well. i would definitely go see them if Downes was playing in the band. he's a powerful player. oliver wakemen is a nonentity from what i can see. i'm a drama fan too, so this seems interesting.
  11. i wonder if that album video is an april fools thing too? oh well. edit-the vid is gone.
  12. yes, mid 80s with the international harvesters. some of that concert footage looks sped up.
  13. oh i forgot about that phillips show. they had to cut the arena in half with curtains for that show. the tabernacle show seems like an embarrassment.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQMCcYKx9-0 info on Neil Young-A Treasure. there's some dubbing on the video, but part way through the tracklist is shown. looking forward to it!
  15. love 80s KC. 90125 is about 3/4 a classic album. music top 40 was still pretty good up through 1984.
  16. they've been touring without jon for the last three years. as far as i can discern, the band wanted to do a tour and jon was unable, so they got the new guy. jon got better, but then started doing his own solo thing and was rumored to be pulling together something with trevor rabin. chris's most recent comments seem to indicate they will have jon back in the fold after the big album tour. who knows. can't believe there is still Yes drama after all these years. it's fun! that's my favorite part of the tune. btw-the main 'epic' tune on the new album is an outtake from the drama sess
  17. i've seen that version of long distance run around. very cool. there's a complete live concert from that tour. really great. btw-have you heard drama? maybe new wave is not the right way to describe it. it's def. yes, but with some more immediate early 80s production. there 3 gems on that album, Machine Messiah being one of them. great tune. as far as john coming back, i can see that happening in a year or two after they get this album out of their system. but really, how much more can these dudes do. they've got to be killing themselves on the road and they aren't playing aren
  18. cool video. thanks for posting. pat and john are quite gracious musicians. i was sorry to hear that they had a rough time on the self-titled album tour. glad they got some rest and released Once Around. love that album.
  19. i hesitated saying guilty pleasure. i love yes! there, i said it. yeah, i've kept up with them through the years. you forgot the Drama (1980) album in you list. i really like that. kind of new wavey yes. they've had a few other good songs through the years, but man they've put out a lot of shit. i'm curious to hear this new one with downes and horn thought.
  20. http://heavyrocktheplaylist.blogspot.com/2011/03/yes-new-album-fly-from-here-out-in-july.html one of my guilty pleasures is prog-rock and, of course, Yes. they've made shitty music way way longer than they ever made good music, but i'm interested in this. i like the Drama album that had trevor horn from the buggles on it. he's looking rough though.
  21. for good or ill i pretty much love every damn thing he's done. he could do a rap album and i'd probably love it. his worst album imo is Everybody's Rockin'. given it's context it's pretty funny though.
  22. he's always in power pop lists and such. never really got into him.
