  1. they were huge. we had a maroon kick ball we played with that had RUSH written on one side and YYZ on the other. good times. too bad the rest of the 80s weren't half as stellar as the first few years.
  2. why was it so good? just curious. i find them severely under-rehearsed.
  3. they are great. i just love john and pat. one of the best shows i've ever seen this tour. also enjoyed them in 04. they're probably one of my top 10 bands now. so so awesome!
  4. i like chris's electric and acoustic playing.
  5. if it's not a hassle and relatively cheap, i would go. i thought they sounded great at the Bridge shows. like an early CSN.
  6. it's gonna be ridiculous. they probably wont play atlanta anyway.
  7. i see. never got the box set. their albums are enough for me. actually, i'm not a huge fan. i like neil's contributions and stills had a few good songs. however, richie furay is just not all that. he's not that great of a song writer. my favorite poco stuff was always timothy b. schmit and some paul cotton as well as jim messina.
  8. that would be something. not much a hiatus for chris. he's been quite prolific the last 10 years.
  9. i'm not a huge fan. this album just clicked for me.
  10. i'd like to see this, but i'm not gonna pay what i know the tix are gonna be. they're gonna have to pull out some more songs for a tour. no doubt they'll play some csn, neil solo and some poco. crosby and nash are also touring. isn't that an eagle's song?
  11. guess he'll be playing new earth mud stuff? probably some dead covers too.
  12. Their best. Wish Brendan O'Brian would produce like this these days for Bruce Springsteen. I just think this album has a nice warm, immediate sound. Even the Experimental stuff is great. BTW, who's got the brain of JFK?
  13. i don't think they sound like csn at all. if anything, they sound like gregorian chant performed by my morning jacket.
  14. well, he was huge in the uk, especially his own country. also, he's kind of one of those guitarist guitarists like steve vai, allan holdsworth, eric johnson, etc. not in the mainstream, but still respected.
  15. looking down on nels pedals i'm at a loss. from song to song he really doesn't sound much different. why all the pedals? i'm a guitar player btw.
  16. i like it as well as any. it grew on me, once i could get past the production. i just think some of the songs are compressed, the wilco song being one of them. it's too bad. i know the vinyl sounds better, or so i've read. it's just really frustrating because the production from yhf to sbs is warm, immediate and flawless. to hear one of my favorite bands go 'loud' is sad. one of the reasons i like wilco is because of their production. let's get o'rourke back for the new one, or let pat produce, the autumn defense records are very well produced.
  17. sad. love thin lizzy. just watched a documentary about gary on tour in UK circa 1983. music was horrible, but the guitar playing was great. he and lynott went down the tubes fast creatively.
  18. i think it's all my issue. that roger waters dvd sounds interesting. i agree with you, torrenting or whatever, the net has been so great to access random stuff from bands we love that was completely unavailable 15 years ago.
  19. it is great for boots and non album stuff. i just tend to listen to that stuff once, unless it's grateful dead. as far as being archaic, i just think there is so much that can go wrong with torrents. they are touchy. i was able to do it because of luck. i had no idea what i was doing.
  20. i've kind of come to that point. there are certain artists that i always buy their cds (wilco, neil young). other artists i'll just download the songs i like. there's no reason to have the cd if i only like one song. now, the sketchy part is when it's an artist that i like one or two songs and the album has potential to be a grower. then i have to make the decision to buy a cd. so complicated!!
  21. they were smart to not do a reunion for so long. i'm sure they don't want to fall into the traps many of their peers did. will miss ben on this album though. i got to see him in a band at music midtown once with some guys from 38 special. he did all his cars songs and i got a few choice .38 special songs too.
  22. yeah, megavideo, megaupload etc. seem to be so much easier. torrents are so archaic to me. there's another article i recently read that said digital has failed because consumers have always been ahead of the game in terms of availability and streaming.
  23. fixed it, sorry. overwhelming is the right word.
  24. http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2011/02/the-cars-reveal-details-for-reunion-lp.html it's 1983 man! great tune!
