  1. just curious, could you explain what's bad and ridiculous about her. i'm not really a fan. i like a few of her songs.
  2. ditto-not to mention THE SHEEN that has plagued music since 1985. that beginning rhodes riff is cool though.
  3. gordon lightfoot! yes. beautiful is such a great song. i've had that happen. you listen to a bunch of stuff and then you hear something that just blows your mind and it feels futile to go back to anything else. i remember feeling that way after hearing Shine on You Crazy Diamond the first time.
  4. Patterson doing go go boots acoustic. this vid really makes me appreciate his guitar playing. very minimalistic yet compelling. he's looking very cool too.
  5. Autumn Defense America Beatles CSN Eagles Gillian Welch Jay Farrar Jayhawks Joe Walsh Led Zeppelin Neil Young Pat Metheny Pink Floyd Rush Son Volt Thin Lizzy Townes Van Zandt Wilco Yes I also love classic rock, 70s singer/songwriters and 70s jazz-fusion.
  6. i've been hot and cold with ryan. always respected him. listening to the samples of the new album i think it sounds awesome! really tight album and songwriting is strong through out. people are probably gonna have to revise their 2010 best of lists with this coming out now.
  7. maybe we need a thread on singles artists. that works for me. i have singles artists and CD artists i like. then there's artists that i enjoy if they come on the radio or in a movie, but i won't buy. van morrison comes to mind. love into the mystic when i here it at the grocery store, but never compelled to buy it. btw-u2 and bowie are singles artists to me.
  8. thanks dudes:) it's unusually cold down here in the south and this album just has a nice warm sound, like i said. good hibernating songs. however, i'm gonna try not to listen much. i need to pick this up when it comes out.
  9. it's probably easier to list the few artists we do like. for me... coldplay u2 white stripes decemberists pearl jam radiohead ? i'll add avetts. nothing to 'em.
  10. The Wig He Made Her Wear from TBTD seems like a touchstone for this album. I like Cooly's tunes. again, pretty mellow. good winter album?
  11. i quickly looked at this topic and thought it said "In Spite of the Season".
  12. he just had cancer too. what a crazy situation.
  13. they each can def. write a gem.
  14. i thought it was a good episode. i wish the killing of jordan had more to it. seemed like it could have been more emotional. never thought they'd wrap up the quin thing. this would have been a nice series finale as far as i'm concerned. dex has done it all, even had true love. now, it's back to normal. sis doesn't know and he can be a dad, but not worry about a wife. in fact, this and season one together would have made a very good series. too many times these things go down hill after a few seasons...except mad men which gets better :-) oh, and there's no way deb knows. she mig
  15. a lot warmer sound than the last one. very mellow. maybe the most mellow album they've done.
  16. again, the reason i started this thread. on paper i should love certain bands. but they don't grab me the way they do others. it's just interesting.
  17. i've heard some of this. Shonna's songs are excellent.
  18. man music is so subjective. i love CSN together, but apart, meh. i especially have a hard time with crosby in the byrds. this is hilarious. i'm sure there are some csn purists out there that think when neil's around he just f's it all up.
  19. i did miss that part! loved you're comment about phish. there was a time in my life that if i wasn't at phish shows that were in a 500 mile radius i had to contemplate suicide. ridiculous.
