  1. that acoustic version of spiders is so cool.
  2. i wish garcia's stuff was more readily available. seems like the pure jerry series went out of print fast.
  3. i know. but there are different versions etc. i'd just like to see a nice clean dead site with cool dead graphics etc. archives is nice though. right, the mastering etc is nice. i don't torrent anymore, so archive is best at this point.
  4. it's growing on me slowly. when i'm listening i just imagine i'm watching them live and it gets better. six pack and king of kings are awesome. i also like tried and true love. nice pedal steel through out and gary's neil young meets clarence white is great. hope to get some of that on the new album:)
  5. i finally got the bunkhouse album. it's okay. i wish it was awesome. it has a very high on the treble and songs are samey. fun to have though.
  6. that looks like an amazing set. now, instead of all these taper sections and jam of the week, i wish they would just start a dead digital sight where they put every show up. then we could download the ones we want and maybe for a fee, stream everything.
  7. yeah, my point was that everything seemed to converge in the 70s only to converge into neon plastic in the 80s and then blackness in the 90s. i'm glad for the outliers though...wilco, etc. but pop music blows and has blown for 3 decades. U2 is the final gasp. oh, and mountain song is bad ass. good point jff.
  8. all you need to do is see what plant is wearing in the performance. oh man! the o2 shows pretty great. the playing is spot on and the vibe is there. best they could sound now. the keys are lower which gives many of the songs a fresher, dark sound. back to fashion and production...it's easy to forget that these guys were at least in part products of their time. they just came around when EVERYTHING was cool. the fact they jumped into the 80s hook line and sinker proves this. they didn't think about what they were wearing in the 70s or the 80s. they wore what someone advised them was
  9. well, zep's demise was kind of a mixed blessing. everyone from the 70s went on to make complete 80s throw away music. in through the out door was pointing in that direction. i'm sure they would've pulled it together for something akin to the page and plant album, BUT no one would want to hear that stuff. they'd be out there playing the hits, like plant thinks is so ridiculous. and concerning the names of those old farts, it's easy to guess. it's also a complete indictment of music of the last 30 years. we've always had one hit wonders, but not till the late 60s through the early 80s did
  10. yeah, looking forward to it. i hope it's something special. i'm thinking a late spring release? wait, wilco will probably have a new one coming out by then too...one can hope:)
  11. Jayhawks maybe another round of Neil Young reissues. also, read a blurb about rush reissues...why? i don't know.
  12. i just loved the dude's voice. his songwriting at times was touch and go for me, but damn he had some great ones. city to city is such a great album and everything good about the slick late 70s. RIP brother.
  13. both of those shows are great. i love when bob says,'to our radio listeners out there, this is known as Dead air.' fun stuff. as far as phil goes, i think lack of training paid off for him. all the best, most recognizable instrumentalists had some training but mostly taught themselves. phil's one of them. no one plays bass quite like him and he's one of the reasons why the dead were so great. i can sit down and listen to a set and just listen to phil and be totally enthralled. of course jerry is totally compelling, but so is bobby. no one plays guitar like him at all. he plays al
  14. missing the GD new years radio broadcast. that was alwayas a lot of fun.
  15. not a huge fan, but this looks great. i love studio footage. makes the music come alive.
  16. they just had so many songs for those sessions i think. Let's not get carried away and thanks i get are as good or better than anything on SBS. Let's not get carried away is one of my fav wilco songs!
  17. http://www.americansongwriter.com/2010/12/neil-young-with-daniel-lanois-love-and-war/ a new interview with neil and daniel lanois. read the bombshell below! I woke up in the middle of the night because I’ve been listening to this – it’s a bit of a tangent here, but I’ve been listening to this album called Treasure, which I have in the can that was done in 1985. I’ve been listening to it because I plan on releasing it someday, and it’s a great record. But all of the people – the key people – are all gone. I have this history of these people that are playing the greatest music of our lives,
  18. Love Tom Verlaine's guitar playing. Just can't get past his voice. Same with Belew era King Crimson. Ironically, they sound alike to me.
  19. i got exited when i first started listening, but that kind of fell away and now i'm pretty apathetic. too bad.
  20. well, i think it's telling that his best song's riff was written by wendy or lisa (purple rain). he was best with the revolution. what's sad about him is that his recent Target only albums look like cheap homemade cd art from a PC.
  21. "I love you mama you sweet, I love you mama you sweet, i love you mama you sweet........"
