Probably my favorite Neil song.

Sweet! I'll listen to anything John is on! BTW-the band's name sounds like the title of a Tweedy song.

itunes looking to offer 24bit files

it's really just my neurosis and obsessiveness about music. i just prefer to look at the artwork and liner notes while i listen. at the same time, i tend to actually LISTEN when its CDs where as I just get overwhelmed with an entire cd collection in a little ipod. i've tried and tried and i just can't do it. i'm also an album person. i like to hear stuff in that context. for some reason i see that lost with ipods. i don't mean digital/virtual art. -
i also have an accounting degree and i am always amazed at the dumb decisions business men make. Matty was on Real Time with Bill Mahr last week too. good stuff. i refuse to blame the consumer in this mess. this is america and people have no choice. consumers do have the power though. we just don't use it.

it's pretty good. in fact, it's all the ratdog you need. the last two songs get a little long with that slow ratdog groove, but there some great great songs on there.

i would download music if it was lossless and half the price it is now AND if it came with an album sleeve or some art. i just can't get on board with digital music at all. tried and it was miserable. tough thing is now if i want something, sometimes it's only available digitally. -

of course you are. went to my local boarders here in atlanta to see what the story was. they didn't have any sales yet. i did see fuckin' luke wilson there though. too weird. he wasn't that cool to us. -

this is cool and i love john's tone. he's def got his own sound which is tough for bassists to do. -
Golden Smog in Minneapolis (2 shows in April)
Vacant Horizon replied to solace's topic in Just A Fan
i thought i remember some blurb about jeff being done with golden smog. never say never though. their last album came out of left field, so we probably haven't heard the last of them. i'd love to hear some new tunes with jody on drums. damn, that'd be awesome! -
i like this new one a lot. i think they need to make a nice tight 10 song album with a balance for rockers and ballads from both cooley and hood. i reckon this will happen in 20 years when they've been broken up for 15 years and finally get back together and record as hood and cooley. TBTD was really bogged down by shonna's tunes, especially 'you got another'. that is not good song given that the tunes on BTCD were basically gems and a nice break in a long album.

glad i'm not the only one. just thinking about going to the grocery store makes me anxious. seems like a momentous task at times...much like getting out of bed. for me it's overstimulation! -
cool to see blair's blog. thanks for the link. for some reason it prompted me to listen to ratdog's evening mood album. that has some of bob's best songs and is produced so well. i love bob's guitar up front in the mix. Two Djinn is as good as anything he's written. love that middle riff.

the production is 1000x better than the last one. i like it.

there are some media stores like that too selling dvds/cds/games. one failed in atlanta but there are several in the midwest. the problem is their inventory is complete shit unless you want to round your Bush, No Doubt, and Matchbox 20 collection. on the other hand, my favorite music store in the world is second time around in dayton ohio. all used stuff and they have everything all the time for cheap! you could round out your dylan collection for $20. and they always have several people working which means they are doing well. -
i hear ya. i just really liked the first incarnation of the other ones. i always thought kimock filled the garcia spot without trying to be jerry. he just added some nice melodic solos and exploration. mark karan, on the other hand, was non existent. those terrapin shows from several years ago with jimmy herring were great too.

well, that's a good, if exagerated, depiction of some of the reason why the indie cd/book/video shops have gone away. -

well, it's too bad. i can't say i bought much at a borders, but damn did i do a lot of research on music there with listening stations and such. they were great for that. it's been very interesting to see bn and borders change over the last 10 years. it used to be about 45% books, 45% movies/music an 10% crap. now its basically 10% cds, some pop culture books and lots of plastic crap. it's over man! when they have the vh1 show about the 00s they'll have some C list celeb talk about borders. on a positive note, i think this decade we'll see the evening out of the media. cds, dvds, book -
The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
Vacant Horizon replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
AMan you are the fucking shit. i saw on a dylan thread that you didn't know who mumford and sons or avett brothers are and now you don't know who the band of horses are! awesome! how do you keep from getting caught up in the buzz man. i always do and i get burned. this board buzzes alot with those bands....and more. -

Vacant Horizon replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
i saw this. i live in atlanta, but not sure about this show. band of horses site makes it sound like jayhawks are opening up...? i'm kicking myself because mark olson played here last sunday night and i didn't know until after the fact. i'm usually on top of these things. i knew he was doing a little tour, but just assumed he wouldn't hit the south. as for the venue the jayhawks are playing with band of horses, well, it's a shed and quite a hassle to get to and park. i was hoping they'd be playing theaters this spring or something. -
this is a great description of further. now if we could get mickey, billy, bruce, and kimock back in the fold;)

i was never interested in the box set. seemed like a lot of repeat stuff at first glance. that stuff you just got, looks fun. as i remember, lots of stuff was left off the box that this set makes up for?
