  1. saw them in 04 and it was one of the best concerts i have ever seen. got to meet john. very very cool. also, turned out the bassist was a dude i had worked with at a record store in dayton, ohio. fun night.
  2. judging by their youtube videos, they seem to be the best zep tribute i've every seen. damn, their robert plant is excellent.
  3. i have a feeling that Walt is gonna end up the new godfather at some point.
  4. The Hunter-is that a blues standard or the Free song?
  5. i will say that glenn hughs can still sing like a mutherfucker!
  6. any news about wilco recording or album coming up?
  7. My favorite concert is probably Neil Young solo acoustic in spring '92. it was at nutter center in dayton which was very close to my house, so no hassle. had awesome seats and the bonus was shawn colvin opened. i had really digged her first album so that was a treat. neil just fucking acoustic neil. fringe jacket lots of requests. so great!
  8. i was at that show. sat in the balcony. mesmerizing show to say the least.
  9. there's a famous jam with alex and the drummer and bass player from mr. big out there somewhere. pretty neat. also, as far as using tapes, rush has always done it. it must be a nightmare getting all that shit worked out. vocal harmonies are def piped in. did zep have a hidden keyboardist?
  10. i saw mr. big open for them too. it was in ohio.
  11. yeah, chronicles was a cool comp when it came out. i might need to pick up retro 3 as it has some of the latter day stuff re-mastered. specifically stuff from vapor trails. as with a lot of bands in the last 30 years (excluding a few like Wilco) production is the problem. i think jim o'rourke needs to produce the next rush album. warm up front drums, phat bass, and maybe just two guitar tracks. ahh, heaven.
  12. thom is probably overstating things a bit. i can see one or two of the big 4 going bankrupt and merging into 2. however, the days of shitty music being pumped out by a big corp are far from over.
  13. oh man, they have way to many compilations. they're like zeppelin in that way.
  14. i think they put out Snakes and Arrows Live in '08 or '09. not sure.
  15. i even thought the initial releases were not that bad.
  16. yeah, neal lives LA while alex and geddy live in toronto i think. there was mention on the rushisaband blog that along with the new album there will be a reissue series. seems like they already did this. wonder if they'll remaster anything or remix anything. i'd love to hear some of the late 80s and early 90s stuff remixed like pearl jam 10. wonder if we'll get bonus tracks. do they have any unreleased tunes?
  17. that's hilarious about the tape! i'm sure we all have stories like that:) listened to test for echo last night. not to bad with a bit of attention. i'm bound an determined to digest EVERYTHING from my favorite artists. many of whom seem to be canadian.
  18. from what i can gather, some shows are selling out while some are empty. the reasons for high ticket prices are curious...stop scalping etc. my idea these days is to go down to the show and try to by a ticket. the closer to show time, the cheaper they are. it usually works. even at small venues. that being said, neil tix are ridiculously expensive. especially since he's only playing 17 songs, 7 of which are new. now, that being said, i went to this tour and it was utterly satisfying:)
  19. i hope they record these. i'd like a version of the album Tenn Fire done with this line up.
  20. it's funny, if i want to hear 'that 80s sound' i'll put on hold your fire or power windows. totally encapsulates that sound. they are an interesting band that def has it's eras. some good, some bad. the last two 90s albums totally sound like 90s alternative and the two this last decade sound like math rock...nu rock...whatever. i think the reason the songs are touch and go these days is that they don't write together any more and just construct songs out of riffs and jams they record. you can totally tell when you compare an intentionally written tune like Tom Sawyer with riffs and hooks
  21. you know, they've put a few out since them...joke.
  22. good point. hate it here would be a good cover i think. he's writing material for this album too, right?
