Probably behind bullet-proof glass in a Japanese penthouse along with all the vintage Strats and Les Pauls.

Most of that is the material I was referring to as his creative high point. He never did anything like that before or since, that I can recall...except for maybe on his solo albums, which I've never heard.

I liked The Wonder Years better, but I enjoyed Freaks and Geeks.

I was listening to Wish You Were Here this morning. Mason was never flashy, technically impressive, or even particularly creative drummer (aside from a creative spurt circa Saucer Full of Secrets). BUT one thing he excelled at, and which most drummers fail at (and I say this AS a drummer), is that he was absolutely amazing at playing appropriately for the song, in terms of dynamics and shifts in tempo. Mason knew when to sit out for long stretches, when to pause for a moment, when to come in at excatly the right moment, etc. These are the types of things that heighten the emotional impa

What? No Hunky Dory?

Yeah, Masada. It's his jazz/klezmer quartet w/ Dave Douglas (trumpet), Joey Baron (drums) & Greg Cohen (bass). I'm not a huge Zorn fan, but this is an extraordinary group.

Forgot I had this. Amazing!

Do some of you remember Bella Alucard Baghdog?
jff replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I read this yesterday, and couldn't even bring myself to respond. Losing a pet is a gut wrenching, devastating experience. You mentioned only having photos left, but that's not exactly true. You have lots of great memories, some of which you shared with us. Those memories and experiences far outweigh the temoprary pain we all must go through when we lose our pets. My sincere condolences go to you, your family and everyone who knew Bella. -
I think I read somewhere that Richard, being a hired hand, was the only one who made money on the Wall shows. Waters and Gilmour lost money.

Those are the only three they did in Atlanta, too, unless they did a fourth encore after I left. I'm pretty sure they did play the intro to Cut Out Witch. Or maybe I'm delusional for hearing it. Maybe you were in a noisy part of the crowd and it was drowned out by crowd noise.

The Atlanta show was amazing. As I said before, I would've liked a couple more tunes from Under the Bushes...and I thought there'd be more since they opened with Cut Out Witch, but it wasn't to be.

There was a guy named Frank Mullen based in Atlanta. Unfortunately, he passed away a year or so ago, but his website is stillworking: http://www.matteblack.com/

I don't have a ticket. When is it? It'd have to be super cheap for me to justify it, not that it isn't worth face value. We're hoping to relocate next year and we're being pretty strict with our spending these days.

Not that I need an excuse to listen to this for the billionth time, but I was looking for some tambourine ideas to steal for an upcoming recording.

I recall reading a little bit of an article in Spin, or something, around the time AGIB was out. Tweedy was describing their unorthodox studio process, which seemed to be designed to make the music develop in unexpected directions. The results were usually good, or at least interesting. Now they just do the typical process of: play together as a band (or most of the band), do overdubs, mix, master, release, and the results have been much less interesting.

Wow, never realized Richard Wright is not on that album.

Songs not good enough for the album they are on
jff replied to Lammycat's topic in Someone Else's Song
I don't mind it at all, either. I like it, actualy, but it's the weak link. Maybe "not good enough for the album" is overstating it. Yeah, Silver is not great, at least not in the context of that album, but La La Love you is fucking terrible in any context. -

La La Love You - Doolittle Tony's Theme - Surfer Rosa -
The first 1/3 of this is really awful and dated sounding Southern California white guy '80s funk, but it gets pretty damn good after that.

She says this... "In my opinion, as soon as you start name-calling, your opinion is immediately deemed invalid!" ...after calling people names numerous times earlier in the interview.

I think that's their best album by a wide margin. Have fun at the show! I'll see them on Saturday in Atlanta.
