jff is short for Jeff. My name is Jeff. When I registered on this forum, Jeff was taken. I don't believe I was offered the option of buying a vowel. My previous post didn't add much, I'll admit, but I don't believe I denigrated anyone else's contributions prior to having my contibutions (which were on topic) called ridiculous. I'll call out uncalled for garbage if I see it, especially when it is directed at me. In response, you can act like a cop if you like. Deal?

Great post. It really adds a lot to the topic. Being lectured on ridiculousness by someone who calls himself "AtticusPoongoogler."

I didn't know, but I Googled it and now I know. I promise not to tell.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the improv comment was meant more along the lines of Phish or Dead style extended jamming. Wilco does not do extended jams. If they did, there would be more variation in their setlists from night to night because they would not be playing as many songs each night. Then there'd be complaining about that, too. Phish can go weeks without playing a given song because they play far fewer songs each night compared to Wilco (at least, that's how it was when I used to go see them circa Nectar/Rift/Hoist.)

I could do without it, too. Unless I heard it wrong, the robot intro to Wilco's show states that yelling song requests is among the things that are allowed during the show, so it'll probably start happening more.

I've heard about doing this in the sun, but not an oven (although, in theory I guess it'd work just the same). An old Sonic Youth zine had an article detailing how-to do the glass/sun method. They claim it works, but the margin of error is pretty high.

Here's the menu: http://www.millerunion.com/site/menu/dinner/ $100 will be plenty for a two or three person dinner, unless you want a nice bottle of wine, or something.

He made some comments at the Atlanta show towards the audience that I felt were justified, but which some might interpret as cranky. He said to someone at the beginning of the show who kept pestering him: "I don't want to hear from you again. It's not all about you." He said something about the crowd being "diverse." I might be reading something into it, but to my ears it came across as a subtle dis. It seemed like he was commenting on the fact that much of the audience was engagerd in a variety of activies other than paying attention to the concert. I could be way off on that, thoug

Yeah, the Fox is incredible. Southern Bell (AT&T) in the '70s was very close to purchasing it. They intended to tear it down and replace it with a generic office tower and parking deck. Luckily the public was outraged and vocal enough to prevent that from happening. EDIT: And how wonderful would it be to LIVE there, RENT FREE!?! Like this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Theatre_(Atlanta,_Georgia)#Private_residence Private residence The Fox also contains a 3,640-square-foot (338 m2) apartment that serves as the private residence of Joe Patten, who served as technical direc

Yeah, I understand all that. There are only a few things in this world that I like to be shown more than a great guitar collection, but after the 15th guitar swap I found myself hoping they'd just rip into a three or four song run with no swaps...tuning be damned.

Considering the fact that Tweedy changes guitars after every single song (for what real purpose, I have no idea), changing setlists drastically each night would probably create technical and logistical problems.

I used to work with the executive chef of Miller Union. I haven't been there yet, as it's in a part of town I rarely get to. I hope to go there soon. It's probably the most highly acclaimed new restaurant in Atlanta. The chef is a really nice and multi-talented guy (he used to sing and play guitar in a band called Seely...they're worth checking out). I'm sure it'll be fantastic. Congratulations! I was at the Atlanta show. The sound was not very good in my section, and I couldn't see anything but Michael's head for almost the entire concert. Plus, many people in front and behind me w

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. In my house, there's a good possiblity that happened. My cats constantly carry whatever they can find all over the house. My friend who is an ace guitarist with some electrical/electronics skills came over yesterday. I demonstrated the amp problem for him. He agrees that it most likely has to do with the tubes.

I guess they'll just have to find some short actors for the rest of the cast.

I'm going with Isla Fisher as Ginger.

Uh, me too. I'm in a joke mood today, I guess. It's Friday, leaving work early, concert tonight, and all.

Like GasCabbie said, Pat and Mike are OUT. The only musical chairs they're doing is taking turns playing for spare change at the truck stop so they can buy bus tickets home from Savannah.

Well, he's a dad isn't he?

That's too bad. Hope everyone's ok. I had heard that they weren't as into doing the residency this year since they had to change venues. Hopefully the cancellation was due to venue inadequacy, or something, and not a major health problem.

If you're looking for something to do a couple hours before the (Atlanta) show tonight, there's an exhibt of Jimi Hendrix's artwork (and other memorabilia) at the Georgian Terrace, right across the street from the Fox. I didn't even know Hendrix did visual art. some Grace Slick and Ron Wood pieces wil be on display, too. It opens at 6 pm, and I think its free. http://www.areaarts.com/atlanta-hendrix-exhibit-march-26th-28th/

I thought the Allmans were in the middle of their NYC residency this month. If it really was him, it's great to hear that he's into Wilco.
