  1. After turning what could have and should have been an exciting pairing (Plant/Krause) into a snoozefest I don't trust T-Bone Burnette. Neil Young, one of my all time favorites, is dangerously close to being washed up, too. Leon Russel and Mark Ribot, however, make this something to look forward to. Hopefully they can give Neil (and Elton) the kick in the pants that he needs. Recently watched the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Classic Albums dvd. Another fantastic installment in one of the best music video series ever.
  2. In my opinion, that guy is full of shit.
  3. I went to Guitar Center last weekend and tried out every small bodied guitar, new and used, in the store, except for a few of the highest priced models which were too high on the wall for me to reach. Not a single one of them sounded worth a damn, and I love small bodied guitars. The best sounding one I tried was a Taylor, the worst was a Yamaha. Maybe Guitar Center's acoustic room is set up poorly, or their guitars are not kept in good working order. I also tried a Gibson Hummingbird, which sounded good, but only in comparison to the others. Very odd. I was hoping/expecting to
  4. Thanks. I wish Wilco would start making better use of what Nels has to offer.
  5. Extremely cool looking bass, too. Seeing that makes me very excited to receive the Fiesta Red telecaster replacement body I recently ordered. It's going to look like this (except mine is going to be non-relic, and probably a bit less faded): When did the guy with the hat become morbidly obese? That's a shame.
  6. Cool video. It stopped at exactly the worst point, but cool nevertheless.
  7. This has been out on vinyl for a while. I've had it for a year or so. It's not as good as Zappa or Pink Floyd by themselves, imo, but it's a hell of a novelty and as a fan of both artists I'm glad I have a copy.
  8. Atlanta went on sale at 10 today. I don't know about any other shows.
  9. For some reason, and I have no idea why, I was thinking about this movie this morning. When I first saw it, it just seemed like people having boring philosophical discussions and nothing happens. That kind of thing might be more interesting (or, perhaps less) to me now. It's worth a second chance, in any case.
  10. Now I'm getting that one, too. No idea where the fairly tale dwarf zoo article came from.
  11. I was going to say "Sweet and Lowdown", since it seems to be a forgotten movie amongst the overwhelming blizzard of Woody Allen films. But then I realized it received two academy Award nominations, so it can't be considered underrated.
  12. Wait, what? This is the headline I'm getting from that link: China’s dwarf theme park: ‘Zoo’ or ‘fairy tale’?
  13. Auckland setlist and video here: http://stereogum.com/283731/pavement-2010-reunion-begins/news/
  14. Anyone know if they're doing pre-sales for these dates? I have a feeling the Atlanta tickets are going to be hard to get in a general ticket sale.
  15. I'd tune in if they did a series about the evolution of each of the events.
  16. 800+ hours of Olympic coverage over the last two weeks pales in comparison to the amount of advertising the inevitable short-term failure that is "The Marriange Ref" has gotten in the same time frame. Or maybe it just feels that way.
