I haven't had to deal with this in a really long time, and luckily my current dog enjoys her crate. The only thing I can think of is to go to great lengths to make sure the puppy is extremely tired before crate time, so it'll fall asleep as fast as possible. What do you do to get the dog in the crate? Do you physically place the dog in the crate or does it go in voluntarily? Is there a soft blanket or a pillow in the crate? We give our dog a pupperoni when it's crate time (although our situation is different than yours since we only use the crate when we leave the house for dinner or

CDs will be around long after Borders is a distant meory. I give Borders two more years before they throw in the towel.

FLAC means ??? to me, but this sounds like something I've been looking for.

Just realized this morning that I have that one. It's in a plain white cover, so I didn't realize it's in my collection. I'll spin that one tomorrow...wasn't able to find the one I was looking for. It's probably in one of my several "on deck" piles. Now playing:

Spencer's grown his hair out, I see.

Hopefully I'll remember to listen to that one later on. The last album I listened to of his was the one where he's made up as an old man in a wheelchair on the cover. It was not so great, but I've always had a lot of respect for him.

How's that Al Kooper? I think I have that one, but I rarely ever listen to him.

Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

I'd rather they go somewhere else, since I'd like to have a place in Canada someday. -
Those songs might not be new...just new to me. The new ones (to me) are: Valleys of Neptune Mr. Bad Luck Ships Passing Through the Night Lullaby for the Summer Crying Blue Rain I shouldn't say I regret buying it. I'm just not excited about it yet...same happened when I got South Saturn Delta, which I now think is an extremely badass album.

I haven't tried messing with tubes. Maybe I'll see if one is loose. I need to pay attention to what note makes this happen, if for nothing other than my own curiosity. I think it happens when I play just below the 12th fret of the d string...so something in the C-C#-D range, maybe even as low as B or B#. I'm not sure if those notes played on other strings would cause the same noise to occur.

I kind of regret buying this. It's ok, but I have plenty of Hendrix albums, and this one only has five songs I've never heard.

I have a reissue of a Fender Deluxe Reverb, and I've been noticing a strange sound coming from the amp. When certain notes are played, a sound comes out of the speaker that sounds like wind, or like someone blowing against the speaker. The sound lasts as long as I hold the note. I assume this is a speaker problem, and not an electrical problem, but I'm fairly clueless. Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

I should have done that, too. Instead, I learned Iggy/Stooges "Search and Destroy" courtesy of a metal dude on Youtube. I'll have to make a point this weekend of learning some Big Star. I'll bet Chilton and the Big Star guys ran into Igg and his guys a few times over the years.
-
Yeah, it doesn't sound anything like his singing voice in Big Star, or any of his solo material I've heard.

My snare drum stand used to be owned by Steve Gorman of the Black Crowes.

I met J.J. Cale once.

The Pop Candy blog has a small tribute with several video clips of Big Star/Chilton, plus a few covers. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/popcandy/index

And, in light of Chilton's passing:

Damn, how sad. Over the past few months I've been rediscovering how wonderful the Big Star catalog is. I'm glad I got to see him a couple times. I saw him with his solo band in 1993, and saw Big Star a few years ago opening for Flaming Lips. This is terrible, completely unexpected news.

Unfortunately, I didn't know it was him until afterwards. The only reason I knew it was him was because my boss had been a stagehand for Bill Graham, working primarily at Winterland, and was a big fan/pseudo-acquaintance of Taj. Me and my coworker were just psyched to see his jacket, as the RR Circus had just/finally been released. Then when we found out it was Taj Mahal we were both psyched for the rest of our shift.

I'd probably pay $20 for a single LP of unreleased live tracks, but this set at this price doesn't interest me at all.

Now that's cool. I served some chicken to Taj Mahal once. He was wearing a Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus jacket.
