Yeah, I'm looking forward to both bands. Tickets say 7:00 pm, which seems super early. Almost impossible to get there in time for anyone who works traditional hours. I'd rather not be in a massive, stressful rush after work to get there by 7:00 if Chic isn't going to start until 8:00. What was your experience with set times?

There are several possible answers here, but I think it ultimately comes down to the fact that Tweedy had put together a lineup with some of the most skilled and adventurous musicians of all time, and a lot of fans were expecting to hear some of that skill and adventurousness on the records the new lineup would make. But the opposite happened, particularly on Wilco (The Album).

I watched Labyrinth yesterday for the first time. Very enjoyable. As a big fan of Bowie and the Muppets, I'm not sure how this one slipped past me for so long.

Yeah, that was Dennis Davis. He lived a pretty remarkable life. Learned drums from Max Roach and Elvin Jones, got drafted into Vietnam, played with Bowie on some of his most adventurous music, and also played with Stevie Wonder, George Benson, and other heavyweights of music.

A friend of mine was in this band when they were called Mr. Crow's Garden, and got booted before they changed their name and their sound. The lineup was him, Chris, Rich, and Steve. He remains on good terms with Rich and Steve, but not Chris. For whatever that's worth.

I haven't seen or heard any Alice in Chains since they got their new singer, but I can vouch that he is a pretty badass singer and guitarist. He was in some good bands in Atlanta in the '80s and '90s. No Walls, Neon Christ, and a few others. The No Walls cd is worth tracking down.

I'm hoping to see her again, but there's still no Atlanta date announced, which is becoming a troubling trend.

Keith Emerson, keyboardist for Emerson Lake and Palmer and The Nice, passed away last night. I've gotten a lot of enjoyment from both of those bands over the years (and also from punk, which was, in large part, a reaction against the prog rock Emerson and his peers were making.) It could be argued that Emerson and his peers were responsible for taking music away from and back to its basics. That's no mean feat. RIP Mr. Emerson. Sorry no link. This forum won't let me post links anymore.

^ Yeah, this'll be my 4th time seeing them. Always a great show. I've never seen Quilt. I have mixed feelings about them, but I'm hoping to be won over.

I hope you're right.

99+% of them. Who else are they going to vote for?

Nah, the GOP isn't going anywhere. There's no ride republicans won't take with their leaders, no matter how absurd, dangerous, and un-American. There is no indication at all that the GOP, or republican voters have a bottom upon which to bottom out. The last 15 years has demonstrated that very clearly.

I'm sure there are a lot of people salivating over a Trump VP slot. My money is on Trump (if he becomes president) quitting before his first term is up. He's in this to win, not to serve. Obviously. Which means Trump's VP gets to be president.

I always liked Tom Petty's show. Is he still doing that? Andrew Loog Oldham was entertaining sometimes, too.
-
Same here. Let's just hope Trump doesn't choose Cruz as a running mate, then win, then quit, making Cruz president. To my mind, there is nothing implausible about this scenario.

I like Richard Thompson a great deal, but he's done plenty of boring music.

^^Agreed. I used to have Sirius and I got rid of it in large part because when they played older artists they rarely played their better material.
-
It'll be interesting to see what they do with the Star Wars material once the next album comes out.
-
I've never really followed Widespread Panic, aside from seeing them a couple times on the HORDE tour, but Jimmy Herring is surely one of the best guitarists out there.

Have you tried a Traynor YCV20? I used to have one, and I regret letting it go. It had an amazing sound. Not sure if it's what you're after, but if you get a chance to try one out, I say go for it. I'd be tempted to trade my Deluxe Reverb for another one, but I've learned that trying to replace gear that I regret getting rid of usually doesn't work.
