Supposedly great bands/artists that you cant stand
jff replied to NoJ's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think it was 1997. From my perspective, Mac was the most distant person in the band. I don't remember him being around much during times when we were lounging before shows. It's likely that he had other obligations and that's why he didn't seem as approachable as the others. He's not unfriendly at all, but he does have a more intense and less relaxed vibe than the other band members. I spent a lot of my down time with Jon Wurster and Jim Wilbur, both great and hilarious guys. I remember Jon was reading the Aerosmith oral history book during that tour, and having some good laughs at the -

I haven't seen anything that is genuinely not nice on this thread. I thik it's been pretty mild as far as "asking for a fight" threads go. -

We're not all the same. Be happy about that. -

I was in a band that was opening for them for two and a half weeks (so that accounts for 14 or 15 shows, plus I saw them at Lollapalooza 1995, once opening for Sonic Youth Dirty tour, and once headlining over Yo La Tengo/Unrest, so that's 17 or 18 shows). I would love it if I liked their music, because I like them as people, and I was afforded a once in a lifetime opportunity by them, but their music has never connected with me. -
What bands SHOULD be in the RnR HOF but never will be?

I doubt it, but maybe it depends on who they are nominated with, assuming they get nominated. -

That visual is a pretty good description of their music. -

"Can't stand" is too strong for this one, but despite seeing this band live close to 20 times, knowing them to some small degree personally, and wanting to like them, I just can't seem to find anything noteworthy about Superchunk. -

Social Distortion. Terrible band and Mike Ness is a whiny, tantrum throwing meathead. -
I just bought the Wowie Zowie 33 1/3 book. Hoping it's a good read, since the books in this series range from really good to absolute fucking garbage.

I haven't been able to get into that part of her career. It feels so smooth jazz to me. Try Ladies of the Canyon instead and see what you think. If you don't like it or Court.., do yourself a favor and just quit trying. -

I don't know, but I've heard that little asshole referred to as his generation's Dylan. -

Thank you. I hate this band. -
I always assumed it was because of the part time nature of the band as a result of Wilco obligations.

So, contrary to what some had said previously, Flea will not be on bass if this ever happens.

what are the most unlikely original lineup reunions?

Yeah, that's true, he's the original bassist. Regardless, never gonna happen. -

Yes (Classic Lineup...Bruford, Wakeman, Howe, Anderson, Squire. The original lineup has some members who have passed away.) Television (Richard LLoyd won't work with Tom Verlaine any more.) -
Yes, it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we had to leave right as they were going into Radio Free Europe, but we got ot hear it in full as we departed. I've never seen them before, but I thought they did a great job putting on a show in a large venue. I thoguht the crowd was really good, too. Frequently at big shows the crowd can be a bunch of suits and talkers, but everyone seemed to be really into it. That was refreshing.

Sounds good. I'm not a huge AF fan, but I'm really looking forward to this show. It almost feels like a holiday weekend. This'll be the first big show I've seen in a few years.

The things that annoy you of your favorite bands/musicians
jff replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think it was an interesting pairing, but it didn't result in music that appealed to me. It was very monotone. I need more variety of mood and tempo than what is on that album. I give the vast majority of the bame to the highly overrated T. Bone Burnett. -
