  1. Nice version from the demented female viewpoint, but I always looked at it as more of a "fuck who" song as opposed to a "fuck you" song. "Fuck you" is well repesented by EC though. Tramp the Dirt Down is a favorite.
  2. Dirt - Lou Reed Its been a long time, since Ive spoken to you Was it the right time Your current troubles, and you know, theyll get much worse I hope you know how much you enjoy them Youre a pig of a person, if theres a justice in this world Hey, how about that Your lack of conscience and your lack of morality Well, more and more people know all about it Do you remember that song by a dude named bobby fuller It went like this: I fought the law and the law won I fought the law and the law won We sat around the other night, me and the guys Trying to find the right word That would best fit
  3. First Album - Mr. Rogers - Won't you be my Neighbor? First Concert - Grateful Dead
  4. Love Comes in Spurts - Richard Hell
  5. If only 3? Dylan Waits Springsteen
  6. I've been missing good material from Johnny Marr since his The The days. I am liking this album a lot.
  7. He played about an hour and a half. He emphasized Meadow, but a had a few from Dents and Shells and Devotion and Doubt.
  8. He played with the full band in St. Louis Saturday. Six Parts finished up their set and appeared to start packing up their stuff. They disappeared and then came back when Buckner took the stage. Interesting backing band for him -- a little more subdued than the backing band on Meadow, but still good. Was funny watching three giddy sorority girls trying to dance to Buckner. Even Beatle Bob was not going near that.

I think you are right (D6 would be DADF#BE). That would make the fingering 1/2 step easier than what I was doing in drop D.

I think the high string is E when open. I tried it in double drop D first and it didn't work.

It's straight drop D. Your turn.
  12. Thanks for the articles. Nice to hear some more of what's behind the Crane Wife. I was a minor Decemberists fan before, but I can't get this one out of the player.
  13. Tom Waits - The Day After Tomorrow I got your letter today And I miss you all so much, here I can't wait to see you all And I'm counting the days, dear I still believe that there's gold At the end of the world And I'll come home To Illinois On the day after tomorrow It is so hard And it's cold here And I'm tired of taking orders And I miss old Rockford town Up by the Wisconsin border But I miss you won't believe Shoveling snow and raking leaves And my plane will touch tomorrow On the day after tomorrow I close my eyes Every night And I dream that I can hold you They fill us full of lies
  14. Buckner/Bachman played the Lou tonight. Buckner is on his game. Meadow is great and he must have played 4-5 track off of it. He is solo with Doug Gillard formerly of Guided by Voices on guitar, who adds a tasty color/counterpoint to Mr. Buckner. Would have liked to see him come out once more for an encore . . . . but . . . .?

I saw Lucinda and Pettibone earlier this year play it. He played it onsomething that looked like an electric mando with 8 or more strings. Had a very jangly sound. As for a tab of the riff or riffs, I can't help you. Sorry.
  16. pap . . . in my opinion.
  17. My cruel weapons have been put on the shelf Come sit down on my knee You are dearer to me than myself As you yourself can see
  18. Yep, start with Live at the Old Quarter. Rear View Mirror is a good live overview too.
  19. If you are talking about the Orange AD-30TC, I've got one and love it. Can't help you with the Rockerverb, but word is they are more versatile. Pricewise, the AD-30TC is on par with a new AC-30 with the Celestion Blue speakers (about $1500-1600 new).

    Steel Tabs

At least as long as I have been watching, I think this is as far as we have gotten on that topic here: Nels Lap Steel Anyone want to run with it?
  21. Wow, funny I was just thinking about that last night. Uncanny. I concluded awhile ago that he was using an open G (DBDGBD - low to high), but then I recalled seeing somewhere that he was using a variation on open G . I could not find that in relation to the lap steel, but I found this in an interview with respect to open tuning on standard guitar: "The guitar I’ve played on virtually everything for the past nine years is a ’59 Jazzmaster,” says Cline. “It still has the original pickups and hardware, but just about everything else has been replaced. I also play a Jerry Jones 12-string
  22. The most famous example of it I know of is in the Stones' "Wild Horses." I have not found the time to hunt down extra strings and restring to try it though.
  23. Shubbs are great. They take a bit longer to put on than a Kyser and you can't leave them clamped to the headstock like a Kyser, but they really center well on the fret and clamp snugly. http://www.shubb.com/capos/index.htm
