I still can't believe they did "The Weight". I know that this was the kind of thing everyone was hoping for when this tour was announced, and the fact they waited this long and did it at Virginia Beach of all places is truly remarkable. This immediately probably becomes the #1 "I WAS THERE!!!" moment in my personal concert history, as every show I have been to never had any surprises like this. It's a shame that it is such a "holy shit!" moment when all these guys have been in the same venue every night, but for once I can say I saw something that the vast majority of others haven't. Of co

Well, I got my tickets during the presale in section 102 which I thought were great. Of course if I knew I could get pit tickets the day before I might have changed my strategy. Oh well, I know it will be a great show regardless. Maybe they'll let people come in from the lawn to fill up the seats if it stays that bad until showtime.

How have ticket sales been to the previous shows? I just looked up VA Beach and when you check for available tickets there's like 80% still available. I'm going to feel really bad for them if that doesn't improve considerably. It seriously looks empty right now. Is everybody just going for lawn seats? http://concerts.livenation.com/event/01004A91D78FE992

I got front row seats for Charlottesville and cannot wait to see her again! Like many I was caught off guard with "Man" but in the best way possible. Some of my favorite songs she sings are the up-tempo New Pornographer ones and I'm curious if there is more of a balance on the new album or if "Man" is the only "rocker". However, my two year-old daughter's name is Neko Grace Colbert so I may be a bit biased.

I got tickets for Charlottesville and Charlotte. They played until 2:00 AM last night at Wrigley due to weather. They were determined to give the fans a full show due to the logistical nightmare it would have been to cancel or postpone the show. Just one of the many reasons they are my favorite band of all-time. And if we're playing the ranking game, today my list would go: No Code Yield Ten Vs Vitalogy S/T Backspacer Binaural Riot Act

That's an inevitability in this day and age. But with them sticking with downloads and not offering a physical product, the cost for doing this can't be all that much in the grand scheme of things and should always result in instant profits to fund continuing the "experiment". I for one would love to see this be an overwhelming success to where they start doing it with most shows going forward.

Wilco — 7/19/12, Charlottesville, VA (nTelos Wireless Pavilion)
chriscolbert replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
What an amazing show! It hit me last night that it had been almost five years since seeing Wilco (after having a pretty good run of four years straight) and there's no way I can let that happen again. Personal highlights included Spiders, Laminated Cat, and Box Full of Letters (somehow I had never seen that before). I can't believe Jeff wore his suit all night. I felt 10 degrees hotter just looking at him. He joked that he has them throw a bucket of water on him at the beginning of the show so that he can pee his pants if he needs to because that's "what Ozzy does" (something to that effe -
Wilco — 7/18/12, Vienna, VA (Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park)

Oh I know Diane! We all know they never disappoint but it's easy to get selfish when the reality for me personally is that with two small children my days of trying to see multiple shows are on hold for a while. I can assure you that they could play Misunderstood 23 times and I would be delighted! -

I would love this setlist tonight in Charlottesville. I was worried about them playing back-to-back nights and this potentially happening. I REALLY want to see the re-arranged Spiders and Laminated Cat and now I don't see that happening. I know they don't have a set "pattern" or necessarily alternate songs, but I would feel much better about my chances had they pulled these out Tuesday night instead. C'mon Wilco, PROVE ME WRONG!!! -
Pre-order available here for $14.99 plus $5.99 shipping: http://looneytunescd...pre-order-page/ Was there ever any news on if this would be available on WilcoWorld? Edit: It's a dollar cheaper here: https://www.vvinyl.com/s/black_friday/

That might be the most peculiar part as to why I brought it up. You would think that the longer this lineup is together they would get more credit, not less.
-
I'm okay with that, although it seems that they used to do it differently. I've never understood the big deal of just crediting the band especially with all the unique sounds that everyone contributes. I think Jeff is one of the most genuine and endearing figures in the music industry today and I've had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, and he doesn't strike me as someone who would insist on his name being the only one credited. I'm not saying that's the case either but at some point it has to be decided how things are going to be listed in the credits and I'm assuming it's more of t

Forgive me if this has been discussed, but I tried searching and that was a lost cause. So for the second straight album, all credit goes to Jeff with the exception of Pat (three bridges on TWL and one song on WTA). I'm not complaining, I'm just looking for some reasonable discussion on this. Now obviously there has been more writing credit in the past (even if it's just listed as Tweedy/Wilco), so I don't necessarily think that Jeff has turned into some sort of control freak, but the way I see it there are several possible reasons for this: - The other guys aren't bringing in anything

Still no setlist for the Raleigh '99 show opening for R.E.M., so still a fail.

One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)
chriscolbert replied to ViaBuffalo's topic in Just A Fan
I'm sure I will be crucified for this, but after reading this thread I finally broke down and listened to the song. I listened to it pretty much on repeat for a day or so on the way to work and back before trying to form a conclusion. In short, I'm not sure why this is getting quite as much praise as it is. I mean I think it's a "good" song overall, but the way some of you were talking I guess I set my expectations way too high. Two of my favorite Wilco songs are Misunderstood and IATTBYH, so I totally dig the long, repetitive type. I don't know if it's because of the way Jeff is singing -

Woo-hoo! Raleigh on release day!

I just heard One Wing at CVS. Seems to be a common one.

I did a search for this and didn't see anything, so I apologize if this has been covered. I was in Best Buy earlier this week and saw that they had their exclusive "deluxe version" of the new Jimmy Eat World CD on sale for $6.99. It appears that this version has four extra tracks and one of them is a cover of "You and I". I honestly didn't even know it until it started playing that track because I tend to still buy CDs at that price and never even looked at the tracklisting. It's a boring standard note-for-note cover, but I just thought it was strange that they covered and recorded such
