  1. She has a sound she's definitely going for, at least on her second album. Like this noir gangster movie soundtrack thing. I never heard the first album but thought I'd check the hype out since Auerbach produced it. I went in wanting to hate it but have to admit I'm really digging it. Not sure if I should feel dirty or not.
  2. What was the mystery? Just the fact that nothing else was scheduled? I mean obviously these were added much later as "warmup" dates, if such a thing exists for a two-day run at a festival.
  3. I had no idea of the dislike towards You Never Know. I remember people really digging it when WTA came out and being all George Harrison-y in a good way. I know some things don't always hold up over time but I just can't see that being one of their worst songs.
  4. Hmmm... pretty par for the course it seems, although my YHF pick might not be popular. A.M. - I Thought I Held You BT - Why Would You Wanna Live ST - We're Just Friends YHF - Jesus, Etc AGIB - Less Than You Think SBS - Leave Me (Like You Found Me) WTA - Everlasting Everything TWL - Sunloathe
  5. I live in Lynchburg (hence my biased wording on the thread title ) and wish I had a bigger place to help some fans out.
  6. Yeah I couldn't refrain. I started to make a "dirty hippy" comment but went with a drug-related one instead. I promise I won't make any more... lol
  7. Well again, it really comes down to who they have scheduled each day. SCI headlined Thursday last year so if they really stacked the weekend days and if Wilco happens to be Thursday and Friday, then I could see them headlining Thursday.
  8. This was the lineup last year in reverse order each day: Thursday, Sept. 5 The String Cheese Incident Gov’t Mule Warren Haynes Band Keller & the Keels Friday, Sept. 6 Further featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir The Zac Brown Incident The String Cheese Incident Jimmy Cliff Founding Fathers Saturday, Sept. 7 Neil Young & Crazy Horse Further featuring Phil Lesh & Bob Weir play Workingman’s Dead and more Widespread Panic with John Fogerty sitting in The Black Crowes Punch Brothers Pegi Young & The Survivors Love Canon Sunday, Sept. 8 Further featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir Widespre
  9. The way this whole festival was promoted last year (it's first) was that you would get a full, normal show from every band and that the stage setup would be so that one band would start as soon as another one stopped, therefore "interlocking" (get it?). I know The Black Crowes played two nights last year and put on a normal show from what I remember of the setlists. It encourages camping and the location means there's not any strict curfews or anything (as far as I know).
  10. I had every intention of going last year when Neil Young and Crazy Horse were originally supposed to play, but after they backed out I changed my mind. Apparently they individually searched every vehicle in great detail and it created one of the worst traffic jams in the area in recent memory. I mean people were moving like 5 feet in 3 hours (no joke) so I hope they improve that process somehow.
  11. http://www.popmarket.com/details/29237944?feature_id=29236681 Seems like a good deal since they run $35 each on Amazon. You have to sign up if you've never bought anything from PopMarket before but they have some pretty good deals from time to time and everything has free shipping which is always nice. EDIT: Use code Holiday10 for 10% making it $67.49. Thanks worldrecordplayer!
  12. I stole this idea and put it on the Pearl Jam message board. I gave full credit to here though, so I hope that's okay. I doubt it will take off over there though, as they aren't as lighthearted as some fans (although the thread of photoshopping cats into random Pearl Jam pictures is pretty hilarious).
  13. No, but it's not really their fault. I feel like if I had been born 10 years earlier it would be R.E.M. or 5 years later it would be Wilco, but as it stands... 1. Pearl Jam 2. R.E.M. 3. Wilco I will say I have come a long way in my musical tastes to some degree. If you had told me 15 years ago that my all-time top three wouldn't include Soundgarden or Alice in Chains I wouldn't have believed you. I'm very much a product of the Seattle explosion of the early nineties, though Nirvana will always be overrated.
  14. I don't have any real logic behind my picks, other than I just really like the songs I guess: AM: Casino Queen -> Box Full of Letters Being There: Monday -> Outtasite (Outta Mind) Summerteeth: Via Chicago -> ELT Yankee Hotel Foxtrot: Poor Places -> Reservations A Ghost is Born: Hummingbird -> Handshake Drugs Sky Blue Sky: You Are My Face -> Impossible Germany Wilco (The Album): One Wing -> Bull Black Nova The Whole Love: Whole Love -> One Sunday Morning
  15. I'm at work and don't have a lot of time to research this, but I thought I'd pick up two shows during the sale today. I want the greatest song variety across any two shows (i.e. fewest repeats). I already have the covers show from Solid Sound so that doesn't apply. I'm thinking the second night of Solid Sound and the Austin Show, as there are 15 repeats between the two but the lengthy sets still give plenty of variety. Does anyone have any recommendations or already done a comparison like this? I know I can't go wrong and I totally meant to ask this yesterday and got sidetracked.
  16. Wow, too bad some long-time fans aren't digging the new album. As a hardcore fan who thinks No Code is their masterpiece, I think LB is far and away their most consistent album since Yield. I thought the S/T album was their best since then until now. I do think Brendan O'Brien does way more harm than good with his overly-slick production, but top-to-bottom this album is classic IMO. On a related note, I did get to see them twice last week and of the 21 times I've seen them now the Charlottesville show will go down as the best hands-down. It felt great to finally be at one of "those shows
  17. I'm a big fan of the "Sirens"->"Lighting Bolt"->"Infallible" trio. Probably up there with "In My Tree"->"Smile"->"Off He Goes" for my favorite three songs in a row.
  18. Also of dorky note: Eric Bachmann of Archers of Loaf fame is on tour with Neko as lead guitarist. Aside from the obvious coolness of these two geniuses making music together, it makes me wonder what's up with her other guitarist. They wrote a ton of the songs on the albums together. I can't help but wonder if they parted creative ways, or if he's just sitting out on this trip. I'm assuming you're referring to Paul Rigby. I have Paul to thank for getting a few items autographed by Neko (since she apparently hates to meet her fans, or at least ones who name their daughter Neko ), and I a
  19. Is this what you got and where you ordered it from? It says it only comes with a download but if it comes with the CD that's awesome! http://kingsroadmerch.com/neko-case/view/?id=4415&cid=423
