I'm going to try to keep this short because I really have no business reporting on this topic. Last night, the Kronos Quartet premiered an original piece, "Anomaly" (in seven movements), composed by Glenn Kotche. I lack the vocabulary to adequately describe the piece, but as a Wilco fan, I can say that it incorporates a lot of the elements we've heard from Glenn's work, both solo and with Wilco, as well as his other side projects. I was just thinking of those fires this morning. This weekend's Bridge School Benefit reminded me of when you came up to SF that weekend for the concert, and we were all so worried when we didn't hear from you right away! Those Santa Ana winds are a major worry with our prolonged summer. I hope everyone makes it out safely.

Idolator has ran with this story for the last week. It seems like a highly subjective call on an already subjective form, but maybe that's what rock critics are paid for.

I managed to find this on dime (listed as "Dave Rawlings") and am enjoying it now. I couldn't go to this show, but I hope they come back to a certain intimate venue in Los Angeles soon.

"It's Just That Simple" was the unexpected highlight of the show, with John's sweet voice ringing out, Jeff in a zone on bass, and Nels added gorgeous little touches to the song. It was lovely to hear!

As I understand it, this is only the second year that HSBG has included Friday activities. Word has it that those recordings are for Warren Hellman's private library, but I'm hoping something comes down the pipe as well.

I didn't get to see David's set with Gillian in SF this weekend, but we spied him taking in Emmylou's set. Sigh. Sounds like a great show, by the way.
