  1. I didn't time it, but the festival program says it clocks in at 23 minutes.
  2. There's some info on Glenn's site about his Wilco kit.
  3. Not real ones--I can't find an image of it on the Web, but the singing cricket boxes are widely available in any Chinatown in the country.
  4. I'm going to try to keep this short because I really have no business reporting on this topic. Last night, the Kronos Quartet premiered an original piece, "Anomaly" (in seven movements), composed by Glenn Kotche. I lack the vocabulary to adequately describe the piece, but as a Wilco fan, I can say that it incorporates a lot of the elements we've heard from Glenn's work, both solo and with Wilco, as well as his other side projects. The piece started off with the quartet using unusual noisemakers, twirling, hitting, or caressing them to coax out the sounds. But as the piece progressed, Glenn j
  5. I was just thinking of those fires this morning. This weekend's Bridge School Benefit reminded me of when you came up to SF that weekend for the concert, and we were all so worried when we didn't hear from you right away! Those Santa Ana winds are a major worry with our prolonged summer. I hope everyone makes it out safely.
  6. I pray that no one will have to relive this dark hour.
  7. I remember my friends playing "Love Like Blood" for me in junior high and thinking, "What is this??? And where can I hear some more?" RIP.
  8. Idolator has ran with this story for the last week. It seems like a highly subjective call on an already subjective form, but maybe that's what rock critics are paid for.
  9. I managed to find this on dime (listed as "Dave Rawlings") and am enjoying it now. I couldn't go to this show, but I hope they come back to a certain intimate venue in Los Angeles soon.
  10. "It's Just That Simple" was the unexpected highlight of the show, with John's sweet voice ringing out, Jeff in a zone on bass, and Nels added gorgeous little touches to the song. It was lovely to hear!
  11. 12. With that new haircut, Nick Lowe looks like he could be Britt Daniel, 20 years down the road. Swoon. I see two cupcake fans.
  13. As I understand it, this is only the second year that HSBG has included Friday activities. Word has it that those recordings are for Warren Hellman's private library, but I'm hoping something comes down the pipe as well.
  14. I didn't get to see David's set with Gillian in SF this weekend, but we spied him taking in Emmylou's set. Sigh. Sounds like a great show, by the way.
  15. Nope, it's a big park, so Jeff was plugged in all night.

  17. Hope Fergal got you something good--have a great day, Kevin!
  18. Though the double bill is incredibly enticing, the venue in question is a piece of shit.
  19. She's even cuter than this one: Happy birthday, sweetie!
  20. As you should. They're a total blast. Argh! I'm even more jealous now! Enjoy the show and report back.
  21. Is there an echo in there? I hear there should be a couple more Los Angeles dates, but nothing official yet.
  22. I am so jealous. I grin like an idiot at their shows. And Rich, we need to hear that story.
  23. The subject line alone almost made me fall off my chair. I wish they'd come out west on that mini-tour, but hey, you can't win 'em all. And why choose? You can like both BSP and Brakes.
  24. There's also that random town in Utah or something that Banyan has played.
