That's all very nice, but even if we weren't in Iraq, we are not taking on the Red Army in its own backyard over a small country. Hopefully, Russia will not kill too many people before they decide to stop.

Well, war is never a good thing, but Saakashvili seems to have brought this upon his country by provoking the Russians. Short of yet another reason to crank up energy prices, how does this affect me as Bjorn Q. American?

Aww. RIP, Isaac. Truck Turner is an awesome movie. Annie: So, this is your idea of a good night, huh. Get me drunk and then screw me. Truck Turner: Okay, okay, we'll get something to eat first.

When I was a Boy Scout, I seem to recall "don't forget the toilet paper" being stressed when talking about campouts.

Maybe they should file a notice at the County Clerk's Office and put up flyers at supermarkets and stuff. -

Manny grew up in Washington Heights, so coming back to New York would seem natural. Given Omar Minaya's penchant for old players and Latino players, I think the Mets will try to sign him.

World War III was really the Cold War, which was very hot indeed in a lot of places. Since neither the U.S., China or the E.U. look like they're going to mobilize the troops to save Georgia, I think the missiles will stay in their silos. If I was Georgia, I would be wondering where the white flags are kept.

Believe me, if Hillary had an affair, hetero or otherwise, we would find out about it, even if she was busted down to Chappaqua animal control officer. -

Ms. Clinton has an office, as junior United States senator from the great state of New York. Famous people get horny too, and I really, truly believe that most people, famous, infamous or unknown, are about as faithful as opportunity (or lack of) permits them to be. -
1. Steely Dan is God. Maybe THE best band of the 1970s. 2. I have been to Barrytown and their Moonie Fort. They do do things kind of strange there. 3. Tolerance of Steely Dan will most def. be in my pre-nup.

Why don't we take a month off from all this?

The "I so don't care about the Olympics" thread
bjorn_skurj replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
The Winter Olympics I like better. I'm sorry - I just don't have a great deal of interest in track and field and gymnastics. (Swimming is OK - I might watch that.) And with the Cold War over, it's just not that high-stakes anymore. Plus, the whole "Dream Team" thing turns me right the hell off. I understand why they got rid of the "amateurs only" thing, but I don't like it, as much as I don't like the hype being crammed down my throat. Shit, you'd think the Olympics were Coldplay or something. -
Wake me when they're over, OK?

I saw a dirty, wet, tattered and abused U.S. flag lying in the middle of the NYS Thruway today.

God, I loved the Bicentennial. And, wouldn't you know it, I checked my tires today and they were underinflated. Big ups to Barack!

Yes, the Mets bullpen sucks. I tip my cap to Johan Santana for his restraint in interviews. David Wright, however, does not suck.

The lead up to the War in Iraq revisited

That was good, as well as Frontline's recent "Bush's War" shows. Nurples.
